Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - "Eye Spy" - 10/15/13

Definitely the best episode since the pilot. A nice blend of action, humor and character development... all without the clunky references to the movies. This is more like what I want and expect from this show.

They're definitely putting it together. This was a pretty good one. Glad I'm still watching

I liked this one. A couple of great (and funny) lines included within. Nice little mystery as to who/what was really pulling the strings which leaves some places for things to go in the future.

On the great/funny lines: "shortbus"

Watching it now. When the agents first get to the subway, what's up with the pilot saying "there are no credible studies that support precognition, telepathy or extra sensory perception"? I get that they can't reference the X-Men, but geez.

Can anyone explain the insanity that is the stupid plane they are flying in? Why on god's green earth would they think they needed to add 2 more engines on the tail of the plane? Not only does it look stupid, but it's physically impossible. Those engines would be sucking in the exhaust of the front engines and wouldn't even work.

Anyway, I agree with the rest of you. This was a good episode. I wish they'd get on with the "What happened to Coulson" plot thought. Also, it seems every week ends with some other shadowy organization winning and Shield promising to "keep watching". End the plot or give more hints.

They only reason I could think of it being useful is maybe in a jump jet/VTOL configuration.

The poor handler knew he was screwed right away too.

Yeah, didn't they watch Top Gun?

This was a lot better.

Now, does anyone still think this show is "camp?"

This was the best episode, yet. I loved the way they definitively established the campy tone.

It is definitely comedic, and I suppose one could call the juxtaposition of comedy and action-drama as camp. I, for one, would not be among them.

My one complaint about this episode is that obviously that guy was no more a volunteer than the woman (or he wouldn't know that his implant was about to explode) and not only does Agent Coulson get him killed by not thinking ahead (like track the guy back to where he's going and bug his car and hotel room and such instead of just walking up to him like that), but even after he finds out the guy was MI-5 and a kidnap victim just like the woman, he doesn't seem the least bit bothered to have triggered the guy's death.

Not sure why that proves he wasn't the same situation as she was. She knew about the fail safe in the room. She either had to kill or be killed. An exploding eye is not much of a threat if you don't know about it.

The "handler" WAS in the same situation as the female former agent.

He was a disposable cutout and he knew it.

You could tell from his reaction when Coulson flashed the SHIELD id card that he knew the people watching through his eye were going to kill him to protect themselves.

He knew he had about 1 more second to live, maybe less.

Coulson didn't know in advance that this guy was no more a volunteer than than the female former agent (although he should certainly have suspected the possibility), and didn't seem particularly bothered at having triggered his murder.

Ugh....I thought the acting was just awful in this one...much worse than previous eps. I'm really tired of the Scottish geek and the girl geek. Believe it or not I thought Skye was the best actor in this episode. The rest are just plastic....I'm gonna stick with it for awhile, but if the acting doesn't start clicking I'm gone.

And, I think I watched the same ep the rest of you did. I just don't get the love...

I'm right there with you. This was the episode that finally convinced us to delete the SP. We're through with it. The show is not BAD, per se.... it's just not very good.
