SNL 11/5/13 Miley Cyrus - PAD YOUR RECORDING

College football game is going late. Don't know if late local news will insist on entire 1/2 hour or will allow SNL to go on live.

Just to plug my own little web app (see my sig below).. that if it weren't for the notification I have set up for "SNL", I would have never seen this thread in time to extend the DVR.

Thanks, TB!

Not even close to being the worst episode in history.

I expected it to be awful, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Miley has a weird voice, and seems to be growing an Adam's apple. She was also stroking the long hair on a number of wigs throughout the show, so she may be missing having long hair. There was also a Little Person guitarist playing during her second song performance.

Another observation ... there didn't seem to be the issue with everybody clearly reading cue cards during the skits.

They had an extra 27 minutes to practice.

I went to bed during the 2nd musical performance, forgetting I was no longer recording. What sketches did I miss?

Actually, I thought it was a pretty good episode. The sketches were half way decent, which to me is saying a lot for SNL. (I watched the original cast of SNL live as DVRs, let alone VCRs hadn't even been available!) I especially liked the sketch where a morning show was taping teasers for the upcoming week and while the camera was off they looked bored and mad and didn't say a word. Then when the camera was on they were all bubbly. It was one of the best sketches I've seen in a while!

And kudos to Miley for trying to change her image from teenager Hanna Montana to an adult (and sexy) singing star. I saw her "big deal" nude video on YouTube and unless it was cut I again say: big deal!!!

I am not a fan of Miley Cyrus, but I did not realize how truly annoying I find her to be until now.

I don't think doing what every teen star does deserves a kudos or even acknowledgement.

Other than the infamous clip from the VMAs I had never really seen anything with her. And I didn't pad my recording so I only saw the first hour of this.

Maybe I'm old, OK, I am old. But I don't find her either attractive or sexy. Her legs are putridly skinny. And her makeup along with the hair I find very unappealing. But when she was dressed up playing Scarlet Johansen I thought she looked very pretty.

Shockingly, I really liked the first song. The outfit, again, not appealing. But I could actually listen to that song. More amazingly, the sound mix wasn't it's usually horrid self.

Her knees being so sharp certainly doesn't help.

I have it recorded out of curiosity. I thought the first song was pretty good myself. I think if I heard it on the radio and didn't know who it was, I'd probably like it. I thought she looked "better" on SNL than she did in those VMA videos. She was at least fairly attractive, although from what I was able to see so far, she looks far better in those wigs than in her crazy half buzzed haircut. She still tried to be semi-provocative in her appearance in the song wearing that see-through shirt. I will watch the rest when I have time, so check out the second song.

I didn't pad so I missed the last 30 minutes. Out of what I saw, I only liked the screen tests. Outside of that, most everything has been a miss from the first two weeks for me.

I thought the cold open was funny and appropriate. But then every sketch was more of an attempt for Miley to say "I'm raunchy!". It got tiring very quickly.

The music video parody of We Can't Stop was spot on.

I made it half-way through the opening skit and deleted the recording.

I didn't think I was going to care for it, but thought I might be surprised. Nope.

You judged a whole skit-based show on one skit? I mean, half of a skit? I guess you listen to a comic tell one joke and decide if he is funny?

I had enough Miley in that short amount of time to realize I wasn't going to enjoy the episode.

There's way too much good TV on to waste time watching something you know you won't like.

Unfortunately that's the case with 90% of SNL. The odds of it being a good show are pretty slim.

OMG-that was hee-larious! Taran Killam really went for it as John Boehner-I cannot unsee his tighty-whities - back and front-

And I think that Miley was quite pretty made up as Michele Bachman...

And they didn't have to do much... just the hair. The crazy was already there.

That was great. Miley looked hotter as Michelle Bachman than she did in original video.

I was impressed with Miley. She definitely loves to perform and very self assured. I get the sense that she wants to do all this crazy stuff and it's how she expresses herself. Her message doesn't resonate with everyone, but there appears to be something behind it. Compare that with Justin Bieber, who seems like a brainless puppet doing whatever his handlers tell him to do.

I have only seen bits and pieces of the original video via my daughter, but I have to agree. Actually, it's a good look for her, if she wanted to "play it straight" instead of outrageous. But that's not where she's going.

I think this is all a big calculated risk she is taking because she knows that she need to change her image to remain relevant. Hey if she is dancing around in underwear and smoking some stuff, no big deal IMO. If she starts getting DUI's or is caught with heavier drugs then perhaps it isn't an act. With that deep voice she has, she could really get a Stevie Nicks thing going on with her singing

It is taking me a while to warm up to that Cecily on Weekend Update.
