I really wanted to see Tyson go against Culpepper on that challenge since he called him out at the redemption island challenge. He would have gotten destroyed.

Jeff is not the showrunner. He is AN EP, but not the only one. He has a say in casting, but not the final say. The fact that Colton was on this season proves that. And Jeff was more than happy to destroy Colton in this episode, which I'm sure was partially him taking out his frustrations on the other producers who insisted on bringing Colton back.

And also I thought when someone quits normally they dont have a tribal or send someone home? They build that in to account for people getting hurt or quitting? Yet here they go right along and have the RI challange and then another tribal. Survivor makes the rules up on the fly.
Jeff is disgusted with quitters. Why would he offer to let that person then go to RI to potentially earn their way back into the game? And besides, Colton wanted out of the game. I'm guessing he wouldn't have wanted to go to RI anyway.

That's ridiculous logic. Strength is a necessity in this game. Losing with strength does not mean the strength should go. It just means you don't have enough of it. So you should get rid of the weakness, not the strength.

Jeff definitely made his money in this episode. The way he berated Colton and called him out for quitting the first time was great.

I'd rather them skip RI and to back to the two classic challenges, personally.

But still, my point stands, they've gone away from "the game" and it's now about the "confrontations". Maybe they get better ratings, but for me it's not as interesting watching people screaming at each other all the time about dumb stuff, or having jerks like Colton come back just to create confrontation and drama.
Fundamentally, I agree with the bolded. But, I do like how they've done it this year. I think it would only work for me personally with a loved one setup like they have. Wouldn't work with a "normal" setup (obviously).

It shouldn't have taken a psychic to know bringing Colton back was a Bad Idea.

Dear Survivor, please stop casting broken people.

The point is, that you and others, are blaming Probst for Colton when he has said numerous times that he didn't want him back and it wasn't his call.

Dear Survivor - please stop casting anyone who's already been on the show!

I agree that the added strategy has made RI better this season.

I have a question:

How come we didn't see Colton's partner do the immunity challange?

I have always liked Tyson... he has always been kind of a kooky funny guy. He had some very amusing insights on his previous seasons.

Edited for time, I assume. We don't always see all the rounds in challenges like that.

And the classic Alpha Male mistake: turning on a key member of your alliance because he threatens your Alpha Male status.

Stupid.

Right, the first-team-to-X challenges are always more than what they show. This one was probably to 7 or 9, but Probst said 5.

I think Probst should have just taken Colton's buff and tossed it away. Now Colton has a Survivor buff that has some value. The other folks that stick it out and get eliminated have to burn theirs, why should Colton get to take his home? I bet it shows up for sale at some point, benefitting the quitter.

Do you honestly believe that, the minute the cameras were turned off, somebody on the staff (maybe even Probst himself) didn't demand that Colton hand over the buff?

Agreed. If the other team finally goes to tribal council, I wonder if his behavior will blow back on Monica? She could be the first to go from that tribe.

Her tribe is getting to see at RI that obviously Culpepper is running things on his tribe.

Glad to be rid of Colton, no matter how it happened.

The next RI challenge will be interesting now that John and Candice are up against each other. Although, I suppose they can just hope to beat Marissa. If they win, there may be some funkytown going down at RI, for at least one night.

I thought it was funny when Culpepper said they needed to get rid of John because after the merge his loyalty would go to his wife. Don't they all have someone else to be loyal to after the merge? Or most of them.

Based on the information we have, in that Probst SAID "I'm going to let you keep your buff", why on earth is it such a stretch for you to believe that I would think Probst LET HIM KEEP HIS BUFF? You act as if I'm some imbecile to believe what Probst said rather than your guess as to what happened after the cameras were turned off.

They may have asked for it back, who knows. But to respond the way you did is even more strange than letting Colton keep the buff..

I wonder why Culpepper's wife sat out the challenge instead of Cierra. She may not be strong, but I'm sure she's stronger than Cierra!

Colton is a tool and should have never been invited back. What a waste.

I was disappointed to see John get voted out. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, and he is a strong competitor. I honestly think the right move would have been to blindside Culpepper instead. It was such an idiotic thing for him to suggest that everyone else should vote for John, but he was going to vote for one of the girls just in case John comes back in the game. Hayden was at least smart enough to see right through Culpepper's bulls**t, but he was ultimately not ready to make any waves. I think Hayden is still getting his feet wet, so to speak. I anticipate that he will go far in the game.

That is one way to look at it. But I'm pretty sure a loss is a loss, maybe they can ask Probst, hey they're margin of victory is less this week, can we not go to tribal?

As for Culpepper, he cant go soon enough. But even when he goes, I'm guaranteed to have him still on my tivo with his ambulance chasing commercials (ff helps, but the're slow-mo, so ff just makes his creepy smile fast-mo).

I swear Colton used to work with me but under a different name. I'll never forget when un-Colton asked one of the District Managers if they were mad at him. Sounded just like me when I was 5 years old..."Are you mad at me?"

Anyway...didn't contestants used to get to keep their buffs? Any idea why they changed it?

In my opinion, Jeff should have taken the buff. Colton will probably just sell it on eBay.
