Sons of Anarchy 10/1/13 "Wolfsangel"

Well, holy crap. Didn't expect to see three significant deaths (plus Ratboy) at this early stage of the season! I'm with Toric..."Didn't see that coming."

So Tig's off the hook, maybe. But the Sons are at war on two fronts (three if you count the Feds, although the Aryans look like they're now half a front at best). Will Toric's misdeeds come to light fast enough to save the Sons (and of course Nero) some major headaches?

It's interesting that things that seemed so complicated last week have become relatively simple. Tara and Wendy in cahoots explains a lot. Tig's seemingly inevitable death was just a test and the prelude to a deal with Pope Industries.

I'm gonna miss Phil...

Can't say I'll miss the freaky Marshall. Poor Otto, at least he went out in a hail of gunfire. Wonder why the Marshall told the guard to get out?

I really thought Toric was going to be who they beat at the end of the season. I guess the Irish are the biggest problem now.

Phil had just enough time to look surprised.

Why does everyone HERE keep killing Ratboy? The way things are going he'll be the only one left standing.

WOW! let the body's hit the floor.

Sad to see Logue go, but I guess now his salary can go back to Trejo and/or Martinez.

Can't believe Sutter finally killed off his mostly worthless character. Should have been him instead of Opie. (since we now know Pope did have "contacts" in the Stockton Pen)

Probably because he didn't want witnesses. Remember, he was committing some pretty heavy crimes...and while I don't think he cared if he got caught, he wanted to make sure that he bullied and manipulated his way into taking down SAMCRO first.

It's kinda like Kenny. Only kinda different. "Oh my God, they killed Ratboy!" "Uh, no, they didn't..."

I think Otto, holding the shiv to his throat, mumbled a directive.

Oh yeah. Besides the deaths. Jax pinned the KG9 (?) problem on the neo-Nazis. I predict the Toric related stuff will clear up quickly, including the dead hooker. So the ongoing problems are the IRA & internal strife (Bobby's split, Tara/Gemma, the BizLat guy's regrets, Clay).

Unless they find murder evidence in Toric's hotel room, the trumped up evidence against Nero could still stand. Maybe.

Jax is a terrible leader. His tough guy act got two SAMCRO guys killed. Why didn't he tell Galen that the Pope Industries guy wanted in on the machine guns?

Did we ever see Phil on a motorcycle?

I'm glad Toric is gone. His character had become pretty unbelievable. I don't mind that Otto is gone either.

So Tara and Wendy are in cahoots. I wonder what Wendy will do with Gemma's gun.

Weren't the BizLats the big Latino gang on The Shield?

They should have used google maps to find the Nazi compound instead of having Darby lead them there. I just KNEW Ratboy was going to get killed during that confrontation. He actually had screen time and dialog.

I don't know if that is true or not, but there have been other crossovers with The Shield universe before.

First Sutter was tired of learning lines so he wrote in for his character to bite off his own tongue. He must have tired of being in front of the camera as well because now he wrote in his characters "suicide by prison guard". What happens when he gets tired of writing for the show? in what manner could he make that happen?

But Eli's already suspicious of him, and I suspect there will be some forensic evidence of the hooker in his room (it was a pretty messy death).

I think the question is not if, but when...i.e., how much can go wrong in the meantime?

Probably protect herself from Gemma. Gemma could get in in her head that in order to keep 'her kids' she needs to get rid of Wendy so Tara can't hand them over to her.

That scene had me yelling at the TV, "YOUR KIDS?!!!"

Gemma and her new man -- too sweet. I hope nothing bad happens to him this season.

I was sooooo glad to see Otto "off" the psycho agent.

There were scenes this week that led me to believe that he would be lucky to survive the episode...they seemed very valedictory at times.

Which obviously he did, but I have little hope he'll make it through the season.

Tara has to be nervous trusting Unser with her secret, especially since she'd trusting him to keep it from Gemma. She should move quickly before his undying loyalty to Gemma kicks in.

Lowen must have a death wish. It makes no sense that she'd be helping Tara against the interests of Jax (and Gemma). She could easily have outsourced that job to another lawyer.

I can't remember her name but I chuckled when they showed the hooker/porn star who had been tortured all dressed up, ready for a "date". Who would pick the girl with burn marks and puncture wounds to get busy with?

It's a little odd how many people feel free to walk into Tara's office when the door is closed. Gemma does it. Unser did it.

I love this show but I'm kind of glad they're wrapping it up after next season. There's really nothing new going on. In the Gemma vs. Tara battle I hope Sutter has them both lose. Can't stand either character.

I had the same feeling when they were driving in the truck, I kept looking out his passenger window for someone to pull up alongside them or something. I feel like there is a lot left to tell in Nero's story, but some of those scenes made me feel the same way you did. Glad to know I wasn't the only one.

Did anyone else think that Unser made a miraculous recovery for a cancerous wheezey old dude who just got sliced up worse than a Christmas turkey?

Of everything that happened in this episode the biggest surprise for me was that Toric was killed off... The way they set his story in motion last season and the way he's been unfolding this season, I thought for sure he was gonna be the increasingly big thorn in SAMCRO's side until Jax thinks up and executes a wildely complicated plan to remove him as a threat that coincidentally unfolds in the season finale. Did not expect him to be killed in episode four.

I thought maybe Donal Louge got a new gig and had to cut his run short but I just checked IMDB and it doesn't look like he's doing anything new... So I guess there's a plan. It just seems like it was going in one direction that just got suddenly cut off, which is very unusualy for this show. However I've learned from past season that you can't judge any story developments until the season is over.

I agree about Lowen, what she's doing really makes no sense. She said when Tara gave her those notebooks that they should be good enough to illustrate Tara's fear of leaving her kids with the Club but won't get anyone in trouble, but I don't see how that's possible. If she details criminal activity and plans to use that in a custody hearing if there is one, then how would that NOT lead to criminal charges?

I still think Tara's complete 180 from "ride or die" old lady to essentially a rat who wants a divorce. I know getting arrested and facing a manslaughter rap (I think that's what she's charged with) would make anyone think about their lives, but she's been "in the ****" for years now...just seems out of nowhere, along with her undying love for Wendy.

The key is when Jax reneged on his agreement to quit the club and leave town. At that point, she realized she was never getting out with him, so she decided she has to get out without him.

But getting out was always the plan. She was never a ride or die old lady; she just went along when she thought Jax was angling to get out. She's always been willing to do whatever it takes to get out, whether that's playing along with the club or ratting on it.
