The Americans S3 E1 - EST Men

Good start to S3. My feeling is that the main gist of the season will revolve around recruiting their daughter.

Yes, good start, but only made it thru 1/2 the ep. Will need to return tonite.

Did you notice a very grainy texture in the broadcast? Looked like a film effect, maybe intentional. Was distracting for me a bit.

It's always been a bit grainy. I think they are intentionally giving it an "80s" feel

Whoa, I wished they had shown us what happened after Elizabeth threw Paige into the pool!

Great start to the season. I love this show.

So what were the names on the paper that were lost? Something with the Afgan effort fronted by the CIA I take it?

And I appreciated some Martha Kama Sutra

I kinda feel sorry for poor Phil...it's gotta be exhausting keeping up with all his wives and girlfriends!

When Stan looked out into space after hearing that Gant's attacker woman would have had had and neck injuries,a were we supposed to think that it was finally dawning on him to look at Elizabeth, or was that all regret over Nina?

We're back to Phillip not being as mission committed as Elizabeth. Remember that he was considering defecting early on.

The list was of CIA operatives in Afghanistan. Central was saying that the US is providing clandestine support to the Muja Haddeen (including one Osama Bin Laden.)

Elizabeth should have tossed the blonde wig.

Me thinks that Central should have told Directorate S to move when they found out that Stan the G Man was across the street.

That was my thought, that maybe he was thinking about Elizabeth's injuries.

I think that Stan can't imagine the team being Philip and Elizabeth any more than Hank Schrader could consider that his guy was Walter White.

But this might be the first niggling little thought deep in his subconscious...

I get a kick out of the 80's references. I used to love Frusen Glädjé ice cream!

Tell me about it, I actually had to look her character up. She's only been in 3 episodes and I knew who she was after I looked her up but I totally didn't remember.

Was it just me, or did Martha look a bit foxier than last season?

Of course, the symbolism of her throwing Paige into the "deep end" wasn't lost with this episode...I loved how Elizabeth looked around before tossing her....as if someone "might" see her in a crowded pool

For anyone who's interested, Sepinwall interviewed Holly Taylor (Paige) about this upcoming season and her storyline. There are some very minor spoilers (I really don't consider them spoilers, but some may...) There's some good stuff there....

Well, not necessarily the first niggling. Remember at the beginning of the series he was suspicious of Philip and snuck into Philip and Elizabeth's garage to look in the trunk of their car.

I believe that both she and Paige had their hairstyles changed.

I am in the camp that Stan's look was more wistful about Nina than a fleeting thought that the attacker was Elizabeth.

I was thinking the same thing. He has to be a bit weary of it all by now.

That's what I think, too.
