Why an extension cable with Slide Remote?

I did search... Why is there and extension cable with the slide remote bluetooth dongle? If it's bluetooth shouldn't the signal be wireless and omni-directional? What scenario do you need to extend the dongle (so to speak)?? I'm getting one soon and just wonder..

well I guess it's just for if you have weak signals?

Its more due to interference between the signal from the remote and the dongle waaay in the back of the tivo, perhaps even behind a closed door or under a stack of components.

The signal can be blocked by the metal case of the DVR the extension allows the device to be moved away from the box for better reception.
