Lightbulb StreamFling your media with Tivo

Here's a shocker, Flingo was testing a module that would fling videos from your PC. https://github.com/Flingo/Flingo/downloads

The item is in experimental form called "Flingo for Desktop" 2yrs ago.
Could this be where Google came up with ChromeCast?

Instructions are simple>
1) goto download link I gave you install the version for your system.
*** THERE WILL BE A FLINGO ICON AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR RIGHT SCREEN - RIGHT CLICK IT***
2)choose a directory path or individual file to your drive
3)From Tivo hit (Find TV, Movies and Videos) click Web Video Launchpad.
4)choose "FLing Queue" from top.
5)Laugh as you now see your videos listed on your tv
6)pick a video and hit play.

To clear your cache follow steps from Tivo:

To watch videos from your Fling Queue on your TiVo device:
1.From the Fling Queue menu, navigate to the video you wish to view.
2.Press Play to begin playing the video.
.
To remove videos from your Fling Queue on your TiVo device:
1.From the Fling Queue menu, navigate to the History menu option.
2.Select the video to remove from the queue by pressing the right arrow button and scrolling through the list of recently played videos.
3.From the popup menu on the right, select Remove Fling.
.
To clear your entire Fling Queue on your TiVo device:
1.From the Fling Queue menu, navigate to the History menu option.
2.Select the first video in the list.
3.From the popup menu on the right, select Clear Queue.

Wink local playback

So far in my testing of Skydrive video playback there is a protection in place that was blocking Flingo to show. But when I choose from my Asus, videos I pulled from KMTTG on my TiVo were playing from the queue.

I look forward to seeing what we can do with this jewel. I was bummed out to not have a ChromeCast but now I have something to play with. Enjoy!

Think of this process as a Live Stream without needing to use StreamBaby or Pytivo to send videos back up to TiVo. The only thing needed as the app from the site and then to open "Launchpad for TiVo" and then simply hitting Flingo Queue. I have now seen my videos in .mp4 format play from my ASUS notebook and AMD Desktop. I am not running Streambaby or Pytivo. When I need a video from TiVo I extract it from KMTTG. I will be sending up screenshots shortly to show my progress. I do not know what the capability of this is. But I plane to take full advantage of this new ability. Far as my daughter is concerned she is watching Clifford from an old recording that was broadcasting from Flingo right now. This is amazing considering I am not even seeing any impact to my resources on my network or stations. So much testing will need to be done. And I fully encourage my fellow TivoCommunity group to jump this and see how far it can be expanded. More importantly who was eligible for the Launchpad upgrade was it only for the premiere and above or did the older units get this as well?

FYI this is not "new", see:
http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...ghlight=flingo
Back when I tried I was not too impressed. From what I can recall:
* .mpg & .TiVo files wouldn't play so limited to compatible H.264 videos
* Basic REW/FF/SKIP controls were not available
* No transcoding capabilities

I think there were more limitations I can't remember right now. Don't know if it's improved any since then but I doubt it.

Note that this is a way to get streaming working to the Mini however so may have some value for that.

I have reached out to Flingo Forums to get feedback on future updates to Launchpad.

So far major downside - really can't FF/RW which really hurts because watching old ads from a recording of Wipeout is tideous, but it's fine. My son is just going with the Flow like he had to learn to deal with Hulu ads.
