Monday Mornings Season Thread

Has anyone watched this David E. Kelley show.
Hospital procedural drama.

I like it, you should check it out.Monday nights on TNT.
Unfortunately the ratings look kinda low, so I don't know how long it will last.

I like it. I wouldn't want to be on stage at an M&M meeting.

My biggest problem is how so many of the characters seem like stock medical characters: the stoic Asian, the unshaven hot-shot, etc...

I agree though I have never seen such a stereotypically played Asian MD. I enjoyed the show though. It is the only medical procedural I am watching right now.

Didn't expect to enjoy it, but we do. Molina and Rhames are outstanding.

Still digesting the content and performances, but minor nit (more like geek OCD).

Villanueva (Rhames' character) can speak Spanish (he did on screen).

Molina (the actor, not his character) can speak Spanish.

Yet the Villanueva's name is has the "ll" pronounced like a double-l instead of a Spanish "ll" (elle, pronounced like a 'y' in English).

'll' is a single letter in Spanish (along with 'ch', and 'rr') I have a 'll' and an 'l' in my last name and like to throw people for a loop when I say I only have 1 'l' in my last name. I point that out because that's a common misspelling of my last name, they forget that single 'l'.

Oh, and I noticed they dropped the Villanueva "pickpocket/borrow a penlight" schtick on the 2nd episode after he did it numerous times in the pilot.

Forgot to catch this initially but caught up via on demand.
I think I have loved just about every DEK show and this one is no exception.
Sure, the characters are a bit cliched right now but I bet they develop as time goes on.
My fav is Dr. Park with his "Don't do- dead" just the facts delivery. That's the doctor I want!

We get our signature DEK bully pulpit segment in the actual M&M's- the organ harvesting timeline thing with Bill Irwin's character was right out of Alan Shore's playbook. It may get old in time but for now I am just happy to have it back.
So yes, it is my new favorite show.

I am not watching any other medical shows right now, but I watched the first three episodes of this over the weekend and really like it. There are a lot of good characters IMO.

He is my favorite too! That episode was particularly touching with Molina shaving his head and the piano playing with the young girl and Molina.

When did that happen? 2010, or had it been brewing beforehand and finally recognized in 2010? Now the Spanish alphabet only has 27 letters? How did they get all the Spanish speaking nations to go along?

Drat, now I have to get a new dictionary. Mine has sections for 'ch', 'll' and 'rr'.

The rr was gone earlier. The ll and ch in 2010, I believe.

And they don't need anyone to go along, since they are the official keepers of the language.

I will need new dictionaries too!

So I get the whole "Lets do DBS thing vs Have you exhausted all other means" arguments.

But is DBS all that rare (80000 world wide as of 2010)? My mom had the procedure in 2004 (parkinsons).

And the sexual activity lawsuit. Doc should have just turned off the system and asked the Lady. Would you rather have this (tremors) or an overactive sex drive?

I just caught up. I like it.

How do they have legal depositions with no stenographer present? I guess the nemesis plaintiff lawyer is going to be a cast regular. The chief sure is easy going about paying out.

Molina said that he was aiming for a specific British accent.

I was going to ask what Gato does, other than be a diagnosis savant until we saw him with the Christian Science family. He still hasn't done any surgery.

Why do they get pages for the 311 meeting? That's just the way to remind the docs, or are they not every Monday Morning?

Monday Mornings just gets better and better. It has become appointment TV for me as much as Justified or Breaking Bad.

I was thinking that Molina shaving his head would be continuity nightmare but they have to be filming in sequence. His hair is growing back.

The remote presence bot was way cool, but I don't think you can control it from any laptop. Maybe, but I think they come with control pads.

Yeah, go for the drama, but there was no way I thought they'd let the baby die. The 32 year guy, sure, if they weren't going let there be a miracle. They can't let the show get too dark and chase off the viewers.

Did his husband kiss him goodbye on his johnson?

I had these stacked on my Tivo and only started watching about a week ago. My wife and I really like it, as do the 7 people participating in this thread

I too like the Don't do, dead guy. He is obviously smart and very involved in his patients but simply unable to communicate in English. Really good.

One thing that strikes me is that the budget on the show comes through in the OR scenes. Here there seem to be 4 or 5 people working in a rather spare room, whereas on the big money shows, like Grays, there seems to be a whole gaggle of people and equipment.

Molina and Rhames are playing very interesting characters and doing it well.

Don't think I heard about this show before today. I too love everything David E. Kelley touches. Picket Fences is by far my favorite DEK show, but they're all great.

I'm gonna have to find these and see what I missed.

The cancel King and Maxwell and Monday Mornings and leave The Following and Under the Dome. Makes you wonder about the average TV viewer.

monday mornings was one of the few bright spots in my playlist, i'm disappointed we'll never see the characters or show develop.

don't fret, we can all watch "under the dome" next summer after "the following" finale...
