Castle season 5 - spoilers up to current episode

Now those two definitely have chemistry, but with Nathan Fillion how could you not? :-D

I'm so tired of the Beckett's mother plot and with any luck it's on hold for a while again and we get back to the fun episodes. I think they did a good job of tying up the loose ends from the end of last season and setting the stage for this one.

Oh, I'm sure, but I hope we get some crime of the week episodes along the way. I think the show does better with the one-offs than the serious and complicated plots. (or plot, actually, since there's really only one)

Looks like that's true for next week's episode. Hope I didn't need to spoilerize that.

Of course we will. The Beckett episodes are only interspersed here and there... there have really only been a handful of them over the entire course of the season. They're usually only at big moments in the season - premiere, sweeps, finale.

They teased us with a potential second plotline last season when it was hinted at that Castle's father was with the CIA/a spy. My guess is we will revisit that a couple times this season.

Perhaps Castle's father is going to be instrumental in Beckett getting justice for her mother from the Senator.

Oooh, I know!

Beckett's mother faked her own death and went into hiding, where she met Castle's father! And they've been hooked up on the run ever since!

I think she worked for the CIA and has been hiding in Japan all this time, only to pop up later.

Becketts mother was hiding in Japan where she was roommates with McGarretts mother; both were thought to have been killed by Wofat

"Cloudy With a Chance of Murder"

I really enjoyed this week's Castle. I don't even care about the mystery - Castle and Beckett are so cute.

I wasn't thrilled with this episode... it seemed like they were trying to put the Beckett/Castle cat back in the bag a bit, and it wasn't working.

Additionally, the actors were entirely unbelievable as modern news anchors, particularly anchors in NYC. It seemed like they tossed the entire cast a copy of "Anchorman" and told them to act that way. They oozed cheese out of every pore.

That, and the whole idea of a "weather girl" seemed totally anachronistic, at least in a market where there actually is weather. It might still be remotely plausible in someplace like LA or whatever, where all have to say "It'll be another nice out today, with highs in the 70's. Back to you," but not in NYC where there is virtually every weather condition possible (sometimes all at the same time).

(And seriously, they couldn't find someone who had a more realistic looking news set for them to use?)

Although to be fair, that seems to be almost a universal problem for actors playing newscasters. It almost seems like the skill set that makes you good at one precludes you from being good at the other...

The way newscasters talk is wildly unnatural, and I suspect takes considerable training to master.

Yeah, that was a bit jarring. I can't remember the last time I saw the TV weather done by somebody who isn't a meteorologist. And granted I live in the Twin Cities, which is a pretty good-sized market, but I also spend a little time in Kalamazoo and Bonita Springs, and while the TV news in both places is noticeably less...polished than here, they still use meteorologists.

Would someone please remind me what initiated the rift between Esposito and Ryan? I kinda sorta remember when it happened, but I can't remember why.

One of them ratted out Beckett to the captain when she went off the reservation, and the other...disapproved.

Not terribly long ago, Milwaukee's FOX affiliate (WITI) had a (male) "reporter/weather anchor" that was not a meteorologist. That said, he had the job because he was able to have the on-air presence, not because of any physical attribute.... and he was also only scheduled for fill-in duty and weekend mornings. He also had some weather education, although not enough to be considered a meteorologist.

Just out of curiosity, is he older? That is, a relic of the era when being a meteorologist wasn't so much a requirement?

Have you seen the "hot Weather girl" threads around here?

I don't get it. What is so awesome? Firefly and Castle have only one thing in common, NF (okay, plus some joke scenes). So why make this video?

Because it's just another amusing example of how Firefly fans cannot let go.

Hey it's only been a decade since it aired. Far to recent to let go

Also, where the heck has the time gone.
