Totally agreed, especially the "Bones has no poker face" cop-out. I think a Post-It note (written somewhere where there'd be no cameras) of "You have to play along with what I'm about to tell you, or Pelant will kill innocent people." would solve the issue, since until recent seasons the entire character was built around a complete emotional suppression in favor of rationality, so clearly Bones can "act" to some extent.
I had exactly that thought at the conclusion of last season (and upon rewatching the episode again last week). Just a weak plot device that wasn't well thought out, and I'm glad they're ditching it.
I think a much more problematic outcome would be that Bones would probably tell Angela, and Angela couldn't help but blurt it out. So maybe there's *some* logic there...
