Orphan Black 4/13/13 "Variation Under Nature"

"Can we not use the c-word?"

I'm liking this more each week. It's insane, but in a good way.

I still don't buy that she could pull off the impersonation that well (i.e., convince people who should know better), but I'm willing to just go with it. Looks like they've finally pinned down her personal back-story. Amazing that I got it so wrong at the beginning (oh, shut up, you!)...

So is crazy-clone the one who rented the room? If so, seems odd that that wouldn't cause some pretty major complications. If not, who was she there after?

I like the evolutionary episode titles (the first four are all Darwin titles from Origin of Species). I wonder if each season will have a different title theme? Otherwise, they stand to run out...

Have folks from the other thread figured out the c word yet?

The show strains credulity but the lead character and her, um "sisters", are so freakin good in their portrayals that I get sucked in. Love the soccer mom and the mad scientist sistahs. Didn't like her gay bro character much at first, but the writers and actor have made him an appealing character.

This show exudes the potential to be a major train wreck but so far I'm enjoying the ride very much. I just know I'll eventually hate myself for getting sucked in deep.

I though of the spoiler police when I heard the line.

The show is on the bubble for me. Nothing is grabbing me at the moment.

"You broke the first rule of Clone Club."

I'm really enjoying this show, especially the abilities of the main actress (forget her name at the moment).

This show can really save money on guest stars. If they need a new character for something, they can just get a wig from the costume department and make another clone.

I was thinking about something similar this morning. Anytime they want to change things up, throw in a new clone.

I'm still enjoying the show.

I love the first rule of clone club references. Any time the writers don't take themselves too seriously, I'm in.

So we finally had the big "they are all clowns" reveal.

I wonder when we'll finally see them in full make-up.

The first rule of Clown Club: Don't talk about Clown Club.

If you call it Clone Club, it will throw them off-track.

I'm a bit behind, but did you notice the book Cosima was reading in the bar?

I'm months behind but I both liked how she didn't know how to handle the gun and holster but also disliked that the partner didn't find it odd. Also weird that she never seem worried that the dead girl in the quarry looked EXACTLY like her.

The court ruled that DNA, including isolated as-is genes, is not eligible for patent protection. However, complementary DNA (cDNA), which is DNA with all the introns stripped out, is patent-eligible (still has to meet all the usual tests for patents -- non-obviousness, no prior art, etc.) because it does not appear in nature.

So any of the uniquely developed clone DNA that meets the aforesaid could be patented. We know for example that nerds and soccer moms are not unique and do appear in nature.
