Well I hope they use some of there settlement to develop better hardware and software. Both sure could use some updating.

As they get the court cases behind them it should allow them to focus more on the product.

So after reading the article they COULD see up to $1 Billion, possibly around $800 Million.

Maybe they could spend some of that on ADVERTISING!

I hope that's enough to implement Dynamic Tuner Allocation.

They still have at least one other case on the books coming up.

http://variety.com/2013/digital/news...it-1200493696/ Hopefully we hear the figures eventually.

I doubt what the lawyers are doing has any affect on their focus. Maybe the result of a cash influx will allow them to put more resources into development of their products. But I don't see the lawsuits holding them back.

I am basing this off the increase in development we saw after they started winning the court cases. We received 3-4 large updates that year which unfortunately isn't common with TiVo. Prior to that we saw very slow updates.

I agree the influx helps, but I think also the less they have to spend on trials the more they have to spend elsewhere. It could be completely unrelated though.

Better yet...lower acquisition prices and deals to gain new subs.

Good luck with that thought, they've already collected a bazillion dollars over the years and it hasn't helped so far.

I often think the same thing. They win so many of these lawsuits, what on earth do they do with the money?

Stock buybacks, executive bonuses, and legal fees?

Just saw the financial info - Tivo stock price is getting killed. My fear is that when the lawsuits run out our Tivos become worthless because there won't be any income to prop up the business.

Only around 1.6 billion with the latest settlement. They also announced an increase to 200 million(double what was initially planned) for stock buyback with this latest settlement.

This settlement of 490 million includes Motorola, TWC and Cisco. So this is it for pending lawsuits.

They should be able to buy back even more stock now that the price has dropped almost 20%.
