Ironside (circa 2013) -- "Pilot" S01E01 - OAD 10/2/2013

Anyone else watch this? I never saw the original one, nor even know about it until I heard about this reincarnation of it.

For me, so far, so good. I like Blair Underwood's cop character. I just hope that they don't keep doing the flashback thing and only used it in the pilot to show how he get injured.

Basic concept is the same but the execution is quite different... sort of like how the original Hawaii Five-0 compares to the modern version. It was okay, but nothing I have to watch every week.

I saw it on demand a few weeks ago, so didn't watch last night, but I didn't think much of it. I like how they went back before he was injured, they never did that with the old show. Good supporting cast, I hope they are used more than they were in the pilot.

The original show did start before he was injured. The early episodes dealt with him adjusting. ( or more precisely adjusting everyone else to his new situation)

I haven't watched this yet (I did record it), but I don't know how long for this world it is. It got NBC's lowest drama ratings... ever. Lower than Playboy Club.

I watched all the old ones years ago when they first aired, but I like Blair in the role and I think we will season pass it.

I enjoyed it and I'm not a Blair Underwood fan.

Don't count on it being around long. Apparently it has earned the dubious distinction of being NBC's lowest-rated drama debut ever.

Seriously?

That's nuts.

Blair Underwood is a fine actor, but being paraplegic myself I just can't buy the bad ass attitude the character has. I know they had to show him standing and walking to set up the characters injury, but I didn't find his actions in the wheelchair to be realistic. I might watch again next week, but I'm not setting a season pass yet.

I came to the program remembering the demeanor of Raymond Burr as Ironside. In the first few minutes Underwood's portrayal was the opposite of what I expected. I only made it through the beatdown in the back seat of the car. No mas.

I thought maybe there was another Ironside besides Raymond Burr. Wasn't he a lawyer rather than a detective? The only similarity I see with that is the wheelchair.

However, Raymond Burr did wind up with a cane (and even a wheelchair) in the Perry Mason movies of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

I watched this tonight. It wasn't bad, actually. Blair Underwood did a nice job. I'm interested enough to keep the SP although rumor has it that may not be needed much longer...
