Homeland S01E01

I'm hooked. Great cast, excellent writing. Wasn't sure about Brody at the beginning and despite what we saw, I'm still not entirely convinced he's a sleeper.

Glad I kept Showtime for this show. I think we're in for a great ride.

My wife and I really liked the pilot. We are looking forward to the next episode of this more than any other show. It has shades of Rubicon but is more interesting and engaging than that show, and it feels like there will be more pay-off. So far it seems like a much more professional show than most shows on Showtime. I would call it HBO quality. That might expose me as a Showtime bigot but it's how I feel.

Except for the prisoner tip and the finger twitch pattern, they're not making it very obvious that "he's a sleeper."

They've been setting up his memory flashbacks as implanted memories. Recall the event, get asked "you sure x wasn't there?" "you sure you didn't do anything?" Then he recalls what was implied.

Baccarin is a beautiful woman. Needs to grow her hair out more, though.

I don't think they asked, "are you sure you didn't beat him to death yourself?"

Some major brainwashing going on if Brody was comforted by the terrorist leader after he beat his comrade to death.

But they (widow) did ask, "were you there?"

It's early. Who knows if that's survivor's guilt, or real memories.

I hadn't heard a lot about this show before I set up the SP. And I was going through a lot of pilots, one after another. The previous ones were network shows so when the scene with the naked woman came up, I was a bit shocked. When I realized that it was Anna, Queen of the V's, (and the Orici) well, you coulda knocked me over with a feather. (Let's have more like this).

I didn't buy Clare Danes as a CIA field operative, though. Nice to see Mandy Patinkin working again.

That was excellent- great pilot. Of all the new fall shows we've watched, and we've seen most of them, this was by far the best

It seems like it'll be hard to stretch what we have so far as a premise that long. But the current premise doesn't have to stay the premise -- the question of whether he's a sleeper might get answered and the story can go on from there to somewhere else -- which means, it's interesting that we don't even know what kind of show we're watching yet.

Baccarin is not the girl from V! She's the space hooker from Firefly who also happened to be in V.

This show was great. I told my dad that it was Jason Bourne without the action.

I really hope you are right. That would be great.

Love Damian Lewis. Been waiting on him to get something with meat on it since Band of Brothers.

Mandy Patinkin. Always loved him. Hope he sticks with the show.

Claire Daines. Great to see her in something consistent.

I hope they have an emergency exit strategy for him, since he never sticks with a show.

Killed Chicago Hope when he left.

Hated what happened with The Eel as well.

Before we got a good look at him my wife thought it was Stanley Tucci. Maybe he could sub in.

Ew, I just realized that at the beginning of the episode, Claire Danes was wiping some dude's junk out of her junk.

Eeeewwwwww. I didn't even catch that. And I'm glad I didn't.

I just watched the first 15 minutes and got a little bored. Is it worth finishing?

It's meant to emphasis the state of her character, in conjunction with the medication, and the fact that she's at a bar picking up someone else later in the episode.

I think she was just freshening up. It's called a whore's bath.

Great first episode can't wait to see where it is going next week. Watching this and Dexter back to back is a thrill ride!

You didn't catch it because it's not really explained until the end and then you have to connect the dots (or in this case, the pearls) yourself.

If you got bored, maybe not, but I loved the entire thing.

As long as they never give Mandy a reason to sing in that awful 1920s falsetto, I'm good with him.

Watched this last night. Excellent pilot ep - probably the best of the year (although I haven't seen a few yet). Looking forward to where this one goes.
