NBC renews 'Parks and Rec' and orders other new series

Article here:

EW

I am excited about the Rand Ravich show Crisis. I really loved "Life" and was hoping he would have a new show.

YES! I love Parks and Rec. And that would have been a crazy cliffhanger to leave a series on.

They have also officially canceled Whitney and 1600 Penn. Still no word yet on their other sitcoms.

Sorry to see Whitney go. The other canceled shows I can take or leave (never watched 1600 Penn).

Yeah I will miss whitney.. It was not great, but it was a good second tier sitcom.

I loved the first season. The second is sitting on my Tivo. I was very disappointed when they got rid of the ex fiance character who came out of the closet. I thought that was an interesting new direction for a sitcom and it sounds like they just dropped it.

I think the second season of Whitney has been pretty good. Yes, it's a shame about Neal but they've done OK with RJ.

The Family Guide...it’s through the adult Henry’s voice-over (Jason Bateman) that we find out his parent’s split would “allow all of us to finally discover…who we needed to be.”
Sounds like the reverse "How I Met Your Mother".

I watched one or two episodes of season two, and what really killed it for me was when I realized that the live studio audience wasn't laughing either.

I will miss Whitney. I thought 1600 Penn was improving, but I guess it was too little too late. I will miss Jenna Elfman. I hope she gets another show soon.

Also sorry to see Whitney go. 1600 Penn had too much unfunny Josh Gadd. . Won't miss it.

Can't say that I'll miss Whitney, but I did watch every episode and it was OK. Definitely glad they renewed P&R, but that was kind of a no brainer.

Still crossing my fingers for Community and Go On.

Go On has been canceled as well. Chicago Fire spinoff Chicago PD picked up. They also picked up Ironside (remake) and a comedy with the guy from Whitney.

The two sitcoms that are still awaiting their fate are Community and the New Normal.
According to Deadline Hollywood, there is negotiation going on between NBC and Sony for the Community renewal and they say it's looking good.

Surprised about Go On. NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt had cited that as the model for the new direction they wanted to go with comedies on NBC.

I liked Go On and felt it really hit its stride late in the season. At least I now have three open SPs on my HR21 for the summer shows

It would be especially ironic if Community were renewed considering it was Go On's mainstream appeal that was supposed to be the direction they were going rather than Community's niche appeal.

I'm really happy that we'll be able to see more of Ron Swanson! One of the funniest characters on TV today.

Oh no, not 'Go On'. That sucks.

I was also watching Whitney and 1600 Penn, but I wasn't like in love with them. I would continue watching Whitney but at least she's doing well with 2 Broke Girls.

Being talked about already in another thread, but Community was picked up for S5. No details yet.
