TiVo Mini Remote with A/V Receiver

Hello,

I have a TiVo Mini with the remote that it came with. I recently got a Nakamichi NK6 sound bar from a friend and I am no unable to program the TiVo remote to control it.

I've used the 3 remote codes that come up in the settings prompt - I've also used the code "1999" trick to cycle through the codes (https://support.tivo.com/articles/In...gramming-Codes).

After cycling through those codes 3 times, I have no luck.

Can anyone offer me any advice or suggest the correct code to use?

Thanks.

Since you've tried every possible code, you're out of luck. Have you considered a universal remote? They start at $4 on ebay. I recommend the Nevo C2. It does 18 devices, has a nice graphical screen and excellent programming software. It's $16 but roughly equivalent to an old $250 Harmony One. I use one in every room and have made some nice icons for many Tivo commands.

Otherwise, if your TV is HDMI CEC capable, just use your TV's codes and control the soundbar via HDMI.

I can't believe there is no remote code to make this work... Buying another remote isn't an option I'd like to take.

I guess that means I'll probably end up with another sound system --- just doesn't make any sense.

Your friend gave you the sound bar. A remote to control your soundbar, TV and Tivo would cost $10-$30. You could even get a learning version of the Tivo remote if you absolutely must have a Tivo remote that will control the soundbar. It would otherwise be identical to your current remote. You could sell the old remote to recoup most of the cost. That would be far cheaper than a new sound system.

If there is a way to hook up the soundbar to the TV's headphone Jack or Optical Connector then do it. Turn off the internal speaker of the TV set.
Then use the Tivo remote to adj the volume of the TV set.
