Question Swapping TSNs

Sooooooo here's a question.

What if:

Instead of upgrading the hard drive my old TiVo HD that is currently paired with a WD 500GB expander, I bought privately or via third party reseller a new/used/refurb 2-tuner Premiere or Premiere XL, would TiVo let me swap the TSNs on the account and keep the 6.95 "Service Only" plan I have on that unit?

The Tivo support answer is maybe, but I have a feeling the answer is no.

I'd say the old grand-fathered $6.95 would fall under the "not listed" row. Check your Tivo account like it says. Alternatively, you could always play CSR roulette to try.

Well, that's disappointing.

After getting my Unicorn, I mean, Mini, and seeing how seamless it streams from my Elite, I'm getting the upgrade itch for my HD that doesn't have the PLS.

There are a few fringe cases where people were able to transfer a $6.95 monthly subscription to a Premiere.

The catch, you have to buy the Premiere from TiVo over the phone and pay full price on the hardware.
Also, you may have to play CSR roulette.

The streaming is nice huh? I had a Premiere for years along side two S3 units and never cared about streaming. But once I tried it I upgraded all of them to Premiere units. It made everything so much simpler.

What is a "Service Only" plan?

As opposed to what? One that mixes drinks and does your laundry?

I have no idea. That's exactly what it says in my TiVo account:

"Service Only, No Commitment, Month-to-Month".

It's 6.95, so why would I question it?

I'd guess it differentiates between the normal "Service + Subsidy" (of course it's not called this) rate that any new Premiere would come with since the hardware is subsidized.
