Survivor Caramoan : OAD 3-6-2013

The Fans team finally wised up! I have to wonder how much of an accident it was that Shamar got sand in his eye.

On the Favs side, I'm finding Cochran's little insights to be amusing. Also, as goofy as he is, I'm entertained by Phillip and from what we can tell, most everyone else is as well. Who'd have thunk it?

More water challenges, still no puzzles!

edit - Dalton's recap: http://tvrecaps.ew.com/recap/survivo...tes-episode-4/

I think it was legit (Shamar's injury) but he certainly wasn't too upset about leaving like other past injured contestants.

I felt bad for (what was her name.. Laura?) but she was worthless except for being a vote in an alliance which, by the way, still has numbers (assuming its still intact, which is another question... especially after (what's her name... Bullock look-a-like) was called out at TC).

Me too. Especially the comment about the "Golum" guy getting all the female attention.

Well... that's where you lost me. Phillip is annoying on-camera and I have to imagine he's equally annoying off camera. I don't see any indication that people are doing more than simply putting up with him for the sake of their alliance. And based on the previews...
Spoiler:
it doesn't seem like Brandon is going to put up with him much longer

In a way, I think that's what was (Laura?)'s downfall. I guess you can say opening 3 locks with 5 keys was a kind of puzzle, and she apparently sucked at that too, but if there was a "real" puzzle at the end of that challenge, and if she's somehow done well at it, there might have been a different vote. We'll never know if the lack of puzzles really cost her votes... but I think it's had an affect.

That said... I love the water challenges too and I'm so glad they're back (and not in a crappy concrete pool either).

With a 6-9 deficit those fans better win the next immunity challenge or they're gonna be toast.

I got a kick out of Philip's pitcher windup when he was throwing the bean bags. But hey, he got it done.

Technically he was working from the stretch, and he was holding the runner at second. It worked for him though.

Yeah, I thought for sure that reynold would pull it out, but Phillip really impressed me there.

why didn't the bushman teach them how to fish? wasn't he supposed to do that? that would be the first thing I would ask...not how to cook rice!

Didn't look that way to me. Looked like Reynold staged a tremendous comeback while Phillip methodically knocked the blocks off at a slower, but not struggling, pace. I thought he did well.

Of course, with editing, who knows?

Exactly what I was thinking. They also sometimes use creative camera angles so you can't see how far ahead or behind one player really is.

Because Philip didn't strike me as the guy who would have done well at that part, at all. Heck, even his "form" seems to me to indicate that he really is not that athletic.

I give a big kudos to Reynolds for getting them so almost close to winning. Wish they would have won.

I do think Laura was a good choice and hope a new alliance can be made between the group. Heck they are so small in numbers that maybe it should just be on big alliance.

Should Reynolds have played the idol?

Hard to say given the limited amount of info we have. He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, so it's anyone's guess if he really needed to or not.

By the way, just read Dalton's blog about the episode. Loved his "Duck Dynasty" reference, and his description of Tata (the native guy) was hilarious!

Philip amazes me how well he does at some of this stuff. He is such a freak but in a show like this its just perfect.

I was glad to see Shamar go - big time loser. "You will bring me rice at least once a day". His game play sucked and his social skills are horrible. Thanks for your service to this country but get your head straight man.

It has been a pretty good season and I have been enjoying it. I was glad to see that Laura was tossed, they needed to do something to try and strengthen the tribe as a whole.

What are you talking about? He plays b-ball against guys twice his height and hits "nothing but air."

The vote against Laura was unanimous. Even Sherri voted for her. So I think it makes sense that Matt/Michael would lump Sherri in as a weak player when Jeff asked, in order to keep Laura from figuring out that she was on the chopping block. It will be interesting to see what happens next time they go to TC.

Regarding the previews for next week:
Spoiler:
HOLY CRAP!! Brandon is a complete psycho. I can't wait to see what sets him off like that.

I don't think Reynold should have played the idol.

If the majority alliance were going to split their 5 votes, I think it would have been 3 for Adam and 2 for Reynold.

But you never know, and he made his play based on the majority's previous "betrayal", and he's still in the game, so one can't criticize too harsly.

I was filling out my predictions for Fantasy league--I wonder if the obvious will really happen, or was it misleading.
Spoiler:
I can't imagine tearing stuff up like that if you weren't on the way out the door. Still Brandon is a crazy idiot. That being said, he's not crazy enough to buy into Phillip's nonsense.

How do you know that? They could just as well do 3 for Reynold and 2 for Eddie (not Adam). Reynold and Eddit vote 2 for Laura. If Reynold doesn't play the idol, he goes home. If he does, then it's a Laura/Eddie tie, they revote, and it's 1 for Laura, 4 for Eddie.

I really don't see how that can be misleading. He dumped the rice on the ground (which I guess is still better than pissing it in). We might be missing the context in that he's already been told by everyone he's going home, but still don't think that would count as misleading. The only way I think that clip could be misleading is if they did one of those visit-the-other-camp things and Brandon was actually tearing up the Fans' camp. Or if there's actually a merge next week and they've been told "your new camp has all the amenities, and enough food to feed an army" and so they're like "what the hell, lets have fun".

So I'll put it this way. We've seen a lot of misleading previews from the show, but if that preview was misleading, I'll not watch this show again.

I have no doubt that the situation won't be quite what they showed in the preview.
Although I could be wrong, but history is on my side.

the guy just has bad luck

thank you CBS for the blur this week!

Now we can look forward to Shamar returning as a "favorite" a year or two down the road.

Put him on a team with Colton and chain them to each other for the duration and maybe I'd watch

Shouldn't you see and calibrate before throwing unless your "captain mister awesome thrower man" or something? Shouldn't a specialist know that? :P

When I saw him holding it before the vote I thought the same thing. I know he was tired of feeling duped but seriously...

One thing I would like to also add is that most of the fans have had the wrong strategy from the beginning IMHO

Shamar was so lazy he even had to lay down on the tower platform during the challenge and tell everyone to stand on top of his fat azz.

What a stupid idea. I can not understand why nobody said to him "stand up you dumbass and put one of the tiny girls on your back".

Also, I don't know why nobody said "get up and get your own damn rice".

I also wondered if it would have worked, since his feet were below the platform.
