I love the unintentional comedy of Ken Squier announcing like it's the Indy 500 and John Reep doing all kinds of crazy stuff in the booth.
So far, the fastest car I've seen was a Nissan GT-R that had an average lap speed of 98.8 MPH. Fastest American car I've seen was a '69 Camaro that did 94+ MPH.
Edit: I just skimmed through the "Kenny's Driving School" episode again since I didn't note the speeds in that one. Kenny Wallace drives a 1977 Trans Am at 97.5 MPH, and the competitor drives a 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo 95.2 MPH. So far, those are the four fastest average lap speeds I've seen.
