Fewer days of program info?

Has anyone else noticed they now have fewer days of program info? For at least the past 6-7 years, it's been current day + 12 future days, and now it looks like current day + 10 future days (which, IIRC, is about what DirecTivo users get).

When I called TiVo to see if there was a problem with their service, the tech told me that, a couple months ago, they cut back from 13 days of program info to 11, because it was taking too long for people like me to download the info via dial-up -- not because Tribune cut back on their future data, which would've made sense to me, because if we're still only getting a day or two of data per call, what's the difference?

Does anyone know if this is true? If it is, it would've been nice if Tivo had let users know, because I wouldn't have assumed there was a problem and wasted time trying to fix it.

ETA: TiVos updated today (Sun., 2/10) and have program info through Sat., 2/23 -- the usual number of days. So, it seems as though there was some sort of a service issue.

Wow. I hadn't heard that.

I wonder what percentage of people still use dial-up? That should be a shrinking segment. Does seem to be a valid reason to reduce the number of days unless they needed to reduce the number of incoming lines to save costs or something.

Seems odd, but not out of the realm of possibilities.

That's not correct.
I just checked my Premiere, TiVo HD, and S2 and found that I had guided data on all three of them that ends at 5:30pm on 2/22 which is 14 days of guide data including today. Plus there's the day and a half of past data that is still accessible.

That dial-up excuse is a bunch of BS. Calling in to add one more day of data is exactly the same whether you're adding to 10 days, 12 days, 30 days.

Mine hasn't gotten any data the past two days, so while it should be where scandia's is, it's still at 2/20. I assume it's just a glitch and soon I'll get a double/triple dose. That happens every once in a great while.

Thanks for letting me know. That's exactly what I should have, too, including the past data.

I thought it sounded like a bunch of BS. He even made a point of telling me the caller before me wasn't on dial-up and had exactly the same data I did, supposedly proving he was right.

Now I'm annoyed.

Thanks for letting me know. Yeah, it's happened to me before, but never two days in a row.

If I don't get any new data by Monday, I'll call back and tell them they need to investigate.

Like I said initially, it didn't make sense to me because users' TiVos are still getting updates roughly every 24-36 hours, so the number of incoming calls isn't being reduced, just the number of days of program data.

I updated around 7 PM. I show date through 2/21. That is essentially 11 days.

As of right now, I have program info up to 2/22.

Twelve days ahead. That falls within the guidelines.

Two weeks worth of guide data. Twelve days ahead, two days behind.

I didn't think about the two days behind. Is that supposed to be part of the 2 weeks?

That was my understanding and what I've seen on ours.

It's been 12 days out for as long as I can remember.

I dimly recall that it was something different in the mists of time (perhaps when I was with DirecTV?), but I don't remember the details.

DirecTV TiVos have always had fewer days. Still do.

They also cut back on the data for Series 2s with satellite and some cable lineups. I get about 8-9 days now.

I've been with TiVo for nearly nine years now and it's always been 12 days out....but I, too, noticed the lack of program data until a lengthy download yesterday that finally got me back up to 12 days...

I was checking Zap2it's web site to see if there was a correlation in program guide data there compared to my TiVo, and it, too, was short information until yesterday. I assume it was Tribune Media's problem...
