RF Remote Question

If I switch the TiVo remote to RF, if my TV and receiver are only IR capable, am I right that the TiVo remote will not be able to turn on the TV and receiver and that I would need to use 2 remotes?

Well that's a time I'm happy to be wrong! So in essence I guess the remote uses RF and IR at the same time, which is great. Thanks for the reply.

Putting the remote in RF mode means the remote's radio transmitter is turned on; putting it in IR mode means the radio is turned off. The remote's IR is always active, but when your TiVo receives an RF command it ignores the IR command so that the command is not executed twice. If you have two TiVos in the same room you have to set them to different IR addresses, even though the RF connection is uniquely paired to a single TiVo. Or you could block the IR signal, that works too.

Yup. My TiVo remote uses RF to communicate with my Roamio, and IR to talk with my TV, AV receiver and TivoHD.

And -- slightly confusing -- when using RF for TiVo commands it still flashes the amber light when sending IR commands to the TV.

I wonder if that's why my Bolt does sometimes execute the same command twice--usually select? It doesn't happen very frequently (less than once a day) and it's almost always what I intend to do, such as play a recording after select it.
