What's a 2 Tuner Premiere with a 2TB Drive Worth?

I'm thinking about upgrading to a 4 tuner Tivo and selling one of my 2 tuner Premieres with lifetime. The Premiere has been upgraded to a 2 TB hard drive. What should I expect to get out of it on ebay?

Look at completed auctions and see what they go for.

A quick look shows a 2TB Premiere with lifetime goes for between 500-600.

I sold mine in this configuration for $557 shipped on eBay last month. I also included the original hard drive. In case you're interested, I think I paid $62 for eBay/Paypal fees plus shipping.

Ebay/Paypal fees have gotten ridiculous!

They work out to more than 12% on standard auctions (9% final value+3% paypal; they also charge on shipping cost too!).

Fixed price is more economical on Electronics since it is only $3.50 for the first $50, then 5% for the rest up to $1000; That's not including the 3% paypal, and fees on shipping cost.

Might want to try a craigslist ad first...No chance of a charge back there.

But unfortunately you do have to worry about this.

Sure, things like that happen, but they are usually associated with Iphone, Ipad, PS3, Xbox, etc. sales. Most people looking to scam or rob don't even know what to do with a Tivo.

I've bought/sold more than 200 different items on Craigslist in Atlanta since ~2006 and I have not had a single problem with any of the transactions. As for Ebay, can't say the same thing. Claims, returns, scams, fees. Not worth it IMO unless Ebay can give you at least a 20% greater price. Now I always try CL first for about 15% lower than completed Ebay pricing. Usually I get good responses.

I usually try to meet in very public areas. Sounds like the seller in your story was pretty naive, going to the buyer's apartment is a big red flag.

I just sold one (TP with 2Tb drive) for $545 inc shipping, E-Bay, PayPal + shipping, cost me about $59, about the same as above. Took only a day to sell.
