Castle 2/11/13

Tonights show had Gina Torres from Firfly in it. Unless I missed it there wasnt any refernces to Firefly like they have done in past shows.

great show like they used to do, they seem to be trying to hard to be a cop show, not a comedy. just my opinion.

Maybe that was all the reference they needed.

Did they have a Firefly reference when Adam Baldwin was a guest? Although if I recall, that ep would have been easier to insert a reference, since Castle and Baldwin's character interacted more than Torres' and Fillion's characters did in this last ep.

Maybe its the romantic in me, but I loved the gift of the empty drawer. I smiled as soon as I saw it.

One thing that bugs me about Captain Sir is that she is normally portrayed as being a tough, hard-@$$ commander. But when she plays a bigger role in a week's episode, that bigger role usually involves her being a complete idiot.

Two that I recall. Castle was playing with a dinosaur at the beginning and there was something between Castle and Slaughter about a brown coat...

I was bugged by Castle's approach once he got called into the Captain's office. He remembered that he'd signed his name to the note, so there's no reason not to claim ownership of the earrings. (If he'd remembered writing Beckett's name but not his own then take a different approach obviously).

If he'd led off with "There they are, where'd you find them? I've been quietly looking everywhere" I think the whole thing would have gone better.
There's really only two scenarios I can see:
1) Beckett's name is on the note. He's not any more screwed with an "I misplaced them" approach. The Captain already has proof they're in a relationship and will react however she's going to.

2) Only Rick's name is on the note. In which case this approach makes it clear he wasn't gifting them to the captain but doesn't give away who they're for; just that he'd misplaced or lost them around the station.

Pretty ho-hum episode. Teaser for next week looks intense though.

I agree, Jonathan; that was writer laziness at its worst. Heck even if he HAD written Beckett's name (assuming he used "Kate" and not "Beckett"... not even Castle would be lame enough to put her last name on a Valentine's Day card!) it's not like there're no other women in the world named "Kate".

I hate it when they make up ridiculous plot points like that :-/

There was a Serenity reference when Castle asked if his present was a pony or a rocket.

Just saw a preview for another show and she was in it. Not sure if it was a guest spot or a regular part. Never watched the show so dont know.

Yes I was talking about Gina on Suits. Is she a regular on the show or was it a guest spot I saw the preview of.

i never knew about firefly references..never remember any on suits and i've watched from the start

so do actors get their full ep salary regardless of how long they are on the show? mom and daughter were barely on this time and i was just curious

if those housewives shows are really like what they showed on this show, i'm surprised anyone would watch that.

I believe that actors who are regulars (in the main credits) get a per-episode fee that's irrespective of screen time.

Is that true even if they're not on that week's episode? Yes, I know technically that would fit "irrespective", but I could see 0 screen time being a special case. Plus, if someone is off shooting a movie, it would seem silly for the show to keep paying them (e.g. the guy on the Office)

So, was the "As you wish" line a Princess Bride reference? I can't decide.

If you are a regular in the main credits, you get paid even if you don't appear, if it is because you had no parts in the script. It's more like you sign a contract that you will be available for x number of episodes a season, and that is what you are paid for.

If you are gone for an extended time to work on another project, you have to get a temporary release from the show, and then you are not paid.
