Calm down and search this forum for curl.conf. There's an easy fix for TiVo Desktop that doesn't require setting clock back. Plenty of threads on it.

That's what you get for calling TiVo support.

You should have come here first.

TiVo is aware of the problem and (supposedly) is attempting a fix.

There's always the nice free programs developed by folks here (kmttg, pyTivo).

Indubitably. I'm about 2 inches away from saying he deserved what he got by going with a piece of crap like TDT in the first place and by not doing his research in the second.

When did whining become our national pastime?

Give the guy a break. Tivo is a fairly pricey service that overall has terrible customer support. He has a right to be a bit whiny.

These free alternatives only exist because Tivo Desktop just doesn't cut it for most people. Tivo clearly gave up on it a long time ago.

The OP is gone after his one drive-by rant. He messed with us! Maybe he thought TiVo would respond to a complaint here?

All of us have a right to be annoyed with TiVo and of course to voice our opinions. None of us have a right to whine. There is a difference.

That could be said of any competitive products, although one might have to qualify the "most" with the term "many". That really just supports my pont, however. One can sit around and whine about how bad something is, or one can move to a better solution. Even better, one can do one's homework and select a superior solution at the very start.

Well, they should have, but it seems they haven't.

Tivo is a premium equipment/service. Simple things like Tivo Desktop should work and you can't blame the op to be pissed off about it. The problem was cured by a member of this forum, yet Tivo support still hasn't put out an official fix. No excuse for such crap, especially for Desktop plus which people actually pay for.

Not really. Cable TV costs several times as much and nobody's support could be worse than theirs. "Premium equipment/service" is a Mercedes SUV with free maintenance.

I try not to call Tivo support since most of the problems I have had were fixed by reading on this forum some one having the same problem. The only problem I have is how the search feature of this board works. I think there are now 4 different threads on this problem because of that search problem.

The latest from TiVo...

Fortunately we’ve identified the issue is a result of a bug within the TiVo DVR software and are planning on a patch for TiVo Desktop which will allow transfers to start functioning again. This affects Series 2, Series 3, and Series 4 DVRs. We are currently in the testing and validation process of the patch and will make it available as soon as possible. Once this patch is made available and applied, the transfer feature will be functional.

At this time, 3rd party applications and devices such as ReadyDLNA devices, Windows Home Server devices, Roxio Toast/Popcorn for Mac, the transfer feature’s availability will depend on how strict those devices are in allowing Transfers from a TiVo DVR with this bug. For reference, I’ve been made aware that Mac Software such as Roxio Toast continues to allow transfers but devices such as Netgear’s ReadyNAS which use ReadyDLNA are not allowing transfers.

Until a software update is made available for TiVo DVRs, these 3rd party devices and software may not allow transfers.

We have addressed this bug in the latest Series 4 release and expect to deploy an update on Series 2 and Series 3 which will address the bug as well. The availability date for these software updates is still to be determined.

Once I have more information around availability of the TiVo Desktop patch I will be sure to share.

Thank you again for your patience.

Jonathan

It's more like 10 threads and the biggest problem with the search feature is that too few people use it before posting an issue.

So TiVo says they discovered the bug? Interesting spin.

I'm surprised Tivo didn't just use this fix and claim it as their own. Game publishers do stuff like this with fan patches all the time.

To a certain extent they are doing just that.

See this thread.

They are also going to fix it correctly in the DVR, but that will take longer and they aren't saying how long yet.

I think you should take it as a validation of the curl fix by TiVo.

I don't expect the DVR software fix any time soon considering the fix would likely have to go through a beta test, etc.

At least TiVo knows where to look, thanks to this forum.
