Most channels in guide say To Be Announced

On 2 of my Tivos (a Premiere and a Tivo HD), most of the channels say To Be Announced. The network connection is fine and I ran a forced call but it did not help. I am trying a re-guided setup so maybe that will help. It's been like this for a few days and of course, the Tivo is not recording the season pass shows.

My S2 Tivo does not have this problem (no cable-card nor cable box).

I don't see anyone else complaining about this issue. I am in S. Florida (near Ft. Lauderdale) on Comcast.

Thanks,
Gary Davis

Sounds like you do not have a cable card on those 2 Tivos (Premiere and Tivo HD), and those channels are QAM. You would not get any guide data on QAM channels without a cable card in them. Cable cards are used for mapping the channels.

Yes, they both have a pair of cable cards and have been working fine for years.

The re-run of the guided setup did solve the problem, however.

Thanks,
Gary

I'd be interested to know how you have a pair of CableCARDs in a Premiere and why you have a pair in the TiVo HD.

Ah, that's right! I forgot the Premiere has only one slot. The other Tivo has the pair since at the time of the install, there were no m-cards available.

Let me check my bill - It says HD/DVR Converter with Cablecard for $3, Qty 2 @ $1.50 each and another line that says Cablecard for $0.00. Total amount is $3.00.

I guess that's right.

Gary

Actually, it isn't right. They are only supposed to charge you for a second CableCARD in the same device so you should only be charged for one CableCARD. However, if they are not charging you any "Additional Digital Outlet" fees, I wouldn't complain if I were you. For the same reason, I wouldn't trade out the two s-cards for one m-card. Don't want to give them any reason to look at your current charges.

That is not what Comcast's website says. It explicitly says that you will only be charged for the second card in the same device.

Jake,

Thanks - that is what I did to resolve my problem. I knew there was a way to re-run the guided-setup but it took me a while to find it. It is not in an obvious location in the menu structure but it did the trick.

I don't remember ever having to do this before out of the blue.
