Suddenlink in FL question

I meant BRIGHT HOUSE NOT SUDDENLINK!

Anyone own a Premiere 4 (digital cable only) or other Tivo and can answer?

Is buying a digital cable only Tivo P4 going to be OK in the Tampa Bay area on Bright House base cable? We are moving down there from out of state.

We don't ever subscribe to pay channels or premium channels - so just the basics. All digital - or would we be missing recording on anything that comes across as just analog? (other than crap infomercials)

This whole "No Analog" thing is confusing. :-/

It would not be able to receive any analog channels, so does it matter?

I didn't realize Suddenlink was even here in the Tampa Bay area, are you sure about that? I can't find any reference to them being in Florida at all.

That is quite exactly the point! If 1/2 the channels cannot be "received" on a P4 - then it's useless.

The analog channels are 99 and below. I don't think you'd be missing anything by not having them as they are all available in the digital or HD tiers anyway (although you'll need a tuning adapter to get those that are SDV).

Thanks Windracer - that's what I was thinking (analog channels would be mirrored in the digital channels).

Totally unsure about SDV.

All we record on are pretty normal channels. Very rare exception. Hoping not SDV..
ABC
CBS
NBC
CW
FOX
USA
GOLF
TNT
SYFY
ABCFAM
LIFETIME
ESPN/ESPN2

I can always still record on two more channels using my EyeTV 3. Those I think are analog.

Here's the latest list of Brighthouse SDV channels from another related thread you might want to check out:

You should be fine, though.

Thanks again Windracer - I notice a handful of extra channels we might occasionally watch in there, if not record. I guess the adventure will continue once we get there and try to tune in - the P4 being a complete replacement for the cable box too.

Brighthouse will give you a TA for free, so you might as well have the installer bring one when he comes out to install/pair the CableCARDs in your TiVo.

Welcome to the area, and good luck!
