Nashville "Pilot" (10/10/2012, Spoilers)

Interesting idea for a series. Is this really the first Nashville or country music based series? If so, credit the show creators, because this clearly is an idea for a series that is way overdue. I wouldn't be surprised if this series isn't too far off of some of the real drama that happens around Music Row. I was interested enough, even though I'm not really all that into most country music.

So far, it's very country music oriented... but with the Juliette Barnes character having some vague similarities to a Taylor Swift-like performer, I wonder if the parallels will continue to show the crossover between country music and pop.

I also wonder how fictional they will keep this version of Nashville, or whether they'll start to feature drop-in guest stars from the real world of country music.

I'll keep watching for now, if only because there isn't a whole lot else on Wednesday nights.

I liked it as well but the biggest drawback for me is the music. I just cannot get into Country music.

They already had a drop in guest cameo, with the Del McCouryy band backstage at the opry. That last song is a Civil Wars song and since the executive producer's husband T Bone Burnett is doing the music you can count on many more drop ins.

Well, I wasn't considering covers when I was thinking about guest stars. Given the show that it is, I figured that there would be quite a few covers being sung.

Obviously, not being into country music, and particularly country music that doesn't slant towards pop, I missed the cameo in tonight's episode. I had a feeling that they were genuine country musicians, but I had no idea who they were.

I see that Joy Williams (half of The Civil Wars) has partial writing credit for a song featured in tonight's episode, "Already Gone." Was this also a song previously released by someone else, or is this original for the show? I come up empty.

That was an original song for the show she co-wrote with Kellie Pickler's husband Kyle Jacobs. There will be a good bit of original songs for the show as T-Bone's connections run deep, I imagine there will be a song or two by Elvis Costello real soon.

We loved it! Of course we're country music fans but it goes beyond that. The cast is great. I love Connie Britton and I think this is a far better vehicle for Hayden than Heroes was (which was a great show too). Hayden has been quoted as saying her character us NOT supposed to be Taylor Swift but clearly there are parallels.

I kept hoping Coach Taylor would show up to give Rayna a pep talk....Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose........

God, ABC Puuuulease have a guest spot for Kyle Chandler!!!!!

The poetry girl reminded me more of Taylor Swift.

I can't stand country music either, but it has Hayden in it, so I'll watch.

Wow, I'm surprised at the positive reactions here. I was looking forward to this show based on the fact that T Bone is involved, and I was thrilled to see The Del McCoury Band in their cameo, but my wife and I both thought this was about the most TeeVee of show in recent memory. We stuck it out for the whole episode, but immediately canceled the SP.

Different strokes, I guess.

Nothing about it seemed real. I felt very scripted, very staged, not at all natural. We were conscious at all times that it was a TV show.

It was TV soap opera but, for me, it was very good soap opera. I thought it had a lot of Dallas vibe. Or, Falcon Crest for the older members.

I liked it. The acting was pretty good, but the plot a little overdone. I liked the music, especially the last song, although I had lost track of who the guy and girl singing it were.

I thought it was pretty good.

Not really liking Juliet Barnes, though. I liked Claire Bennet much better.

You're not supposed to like her.

But with the Lindsay Lohan trash parent(s), we can at least have some sympathy. Or maybe not.

It was Country Smash. Nashville and Smash are basically the same show.

Was that really Chip Esten singing? I know he'd done some singing on 'Whose Line...".

I've seen him on improv shows like that, and on dramas more recently, but I didn't know he had real singing chops.

Oops, pardon me - Charles!

I know. And that makes me sad. Hayden is a hottie. I want to like her like I liked Claire Benner. But no, her charcter here seems to be a biatch. She does garner a bit of sympathay due to her meth head mom. Of course, I'm not as down on her singing as Rayan is. I'm ok with young country pop cross over artists.

BA HA HA! I know-since when is he "CHARLES?" I guess he is too fancy pants now! I like him on this show. He can really act! And sing! Cracks me up, though, to see that name in the credits...

I loved (and bought) two of the songs. Fade Into You and If I Didn't Know Better. Those are more jazz than country, though. Since then, it's been meh on the music for me, and way too many plot lines. But I'll hang in there for the season.

'Nashville' Soundtrack Set for December Release

Now that the show has been picked up for a full season, it comes as no surprise that label partner Big Machine Records would take full advantage of the country music loving momentum and release the show's official soundtrack on Dec. 11.

I unfortunately lost track of this series. I might try and get caught up on it again over a work break.
