That Fun song sounds like Cecelia by Simon and Garfunkel.

Yeah... well, it doesn't help that the album release of "Some Nights" uses extensive auto-tuning for artistic effect, something not easily done in concert. They tried to replicate the effect a bit at the end with a vocoder, but it wasn't quite the same.

having seen FUN live in St. Louis in June, I can say that they are almost better live in a good venue than on CD. I thought they did okay for SNL, whom I find typically has TERRIBLE mixes for musical guests.

Fun! was about the only thing I liked about this episode. The Lincoln skit was okay.

Louis C.K. is a stand-up comedian. He developed material from his stand-up routine and his life as a single father in NY into the FX television show "Louie," which won best writing for a comedy series at the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Louis C.K. looks a lot like Jim Cramer, but they opted to not do a "Mad Money" skit.

I thought the same thing the first time I heard it on the radio. Even played the S&G song for my daughter to prove I wasn't crazy.

That was my favorite sketch ... although you've really had to have seen an episode of "Louie" to really appreciate it.

I loved the opening monologue too, except for the sound quality. I understand why Louie had the microphone, but did they really need to use it for audio? It messed everything up and made it hard to hear/understand.

Really enjoyed the cold open with Mayor Bloomberg trying to speak Spanish, and of course - the "blancos" that can't watch "Homeland" - and that being the worst thing that ever happened to them...

And the NJ sign language interpreter...hee-larious!

LOVED Louie as Lincoln-but yes, I am a big fan of his show.

Mitt Romney on WU-"Let me promise you one thing-I will promise you everything!"

And that last sketch - that kiss! CANNOT UNSEE!

I also liked the "I seek Zoooooooooooooooooooog!" sketch because Louie flubbed/forgot his lines and cracked up and that always makes me laugh.

I kept saying "Why is Louie CK blowing a shofar?"

Me too!

That looked like a real shofar that they probably got from a Judaica store.

You ever try to blow a shofar? They let us try in Hebrew Day School-it's really hard to get any noise at all out of one!

It's actually not that difficult if you know how. You can't just blow into it, you have to kind of blow with your lips closed (kind of like doing a spit take). It's identical to what you have to do to play a trumpet or any other horned instrument.

I thought they sounded fantastic live, especially some difficult post-production effects they had to recreate. They were sooooo much better than Passion Pit who really struggled without their post-production. Background vocals from Fun were spot on. I loved their performance.

Love Louis C.K. but he did poorly as a host. It was like he was an audience member of one of those improv shows and got pulled up on stage. Makes you wonder how much input he had on scripts.

When Louis C.K. was on Jimmy Fallon last week he said there was one skit that he hated, but he actually told them to keep it in because he hated it so much. Wonder which one that was?

Well he said he would be wearing something, so I figured it was either Lincoln or I Seek Zogg, as those were the only 2 where he was wearing something different from normal clothes, and that's kinda a stretch with Lincoln, so it must have been Zogg, no?

The cold open with the sign language interpreter was hilarious. I had been watching a lot of Bloomberg conferences during Sandy and the real interpreters were possibly even more funny than the SNL version. We were constantly hitting the instant replay button on the TiVo to see their funny expressions.

I hope I'm not the only one a little weirded out by all the hilarity people are getting out of the ASL translators.

To each his own, but I'm uncomfortable with the seeming pleasure the hearing world is getting mocking the deaf.

*sigh*

That's not what's going on. (And that is even if you ignore the fact that the interpreters would necessarily not be deaf, so I'm not exactly sure who you think is being mocked in the first place.)

I don't know if you saw the real Bloomberg press conferences for Sandy, but the interpreters there were just really rather goofy at times. I've seen plenty of sign language interpreters do their thing, and none compared to the ones who worked the Bloomberg pressers.

They're not mocking the deaf. They're making fun of the *one* ASL translator, who was incredibly over the top with her body language and facial reactions, far more so than is necessary. If you go back and watch video of the real press conference, you'll see what they're making fun of.

Now, this would be an actual example of mocking the deaf. Note the differences, they're subtle.

*actual* mocking

Hope this helps.
