Confused about existing buffer loss

I remember that I used to not lose the buffer when another show started recording. For example...today I had a nice buffer watching a football game. At 430 another show was scheduled to record. But when it started it automatically put that on my tv and I lost the buffer and the end of the game that I was watching. Is this new? Or do i need to change some setting?

It's not a new thing by any means and it is apparently just how the software works now, so don't expect it to go back to the way it was.

Here's a recent "discussion" on the subject.

It's relatively new. Some think it's a bug and some think it was intended.

Well, it's not a bug per se, because TiVo has stated that the change was intentional.

What people need to do is call TiVo, chat with TiVo, and post to TiVo's customer support forum that they don't like the change and want it changed back so it works like it used to.

Many people being a squeaky wheel is the only way to get TiVo's attention IMO.

On my S2 DT I've recently seen it behave both ways, so I don't know what the H-E-double hockey sticks is going on, or on what I can depend in the future.
