The Office 2/14/13 "Moving On"

Wow, looks like we might see the documentary as the series finale after all.

As for the rest of this week: that was...one of the more awful hours of television I've seen in some time. Why couldn't Andy have died at sea?

Wonder if Dwight's Aunt will take the place of Mose in the spinoff?

Andy has become a completely unlikeable character; hard to watch in his vindictiveness. This was the worst hour of The Office ever.

Agree. That was just not funny/entertaining at all.

So when the camera zoomed in on Oscars computer, that "The Office" blurb indicated a future doc show about "The Office" we see each week?

Man... that was just like watching Michael in someone else's body. I was blown away.

And you know, theyve done the same thing with Andy. Theyve made him into a meaner version of Michael. Andy's personality morph since his character premiere has been quite shocking.

The spinoff is dead.

Best part of the episode.

And for the record I love vindictive Andy!

Are they really going to split up Pam and Jim? What a failure if that happens...

I find it strange to see the love for this. I thought it only highlighted just how good Steve Carell was.

I enjoyed Creed introducing the Birdman and lonely Toby getting choked out by the Scranton Strangler.

Andy going psycho is uncomfortably amusing, not the tears but the hiring of past lovers.

A less than great episode but at least it moves the storylines forward.

I concur.
And, to rephrase your last line, at least it keeps the storylines Moving On.

Exactly! When Michael did "bad" things it was because he was just clueless (but still likeable). Andy is doing these things because he's vindictive and mean.

People seem to have forgotten that Andy was vindictive and mean when we first met him.

That was so awesome!! I flipped out when I saw Saul and it was immediately obvious he was another Michael Scott. It made up for the dumb stuff. Like the Dwight and Angela subplot, the Toby subplot, and Andy being so stupid about Erin breaking up with him. (but we got to see Gabe again!!)

I didn't think it was a bad episode. There have been MUCH worse. It was about average for the current season.

I didn't think the Andy subplot was awful. I thought Gabe was funny. Just because Andy was annoying doesn't mean the other characters involved weren't a little entertaining.

Angela & Dwight.... meh - though the Aunt had moments. Overall it was a C+ because there was nothing great or even that good, but it wasn't awful like some of this years that I couldn't even finish watching.

The bar is set lower.

So much for my theory that Toby was the real Scranton strangler.

I was just happy to see some kind of tribute to Michael Scott, even a mention of his name.

Yes, you're right. He's been "happy" for quite some time now, and it's been awhile since his mean streak has made an appearance.

Agree with what others have said about "Saul's" portrayal of the Second Coming of Michael Scott. Made me miss him even more.

I paused it and turned to my GF and said, "Oh my god... it's Michael Scott".

Then I unpaused it and 3 seconds later Pam said the exact same thing.

I think I liked it more than most of the reviewers here, though I still didn't think it was *great*. I thought it was funny hiring the exes of his ex & her new boyfriend.

I loved Saul as Michael and thought that Pam would have had enjoyed it, but glad she didn't take a position that would be such a drop. Maybe he will come back with another offer.

I actually fast forwarded thru the whole Dwight's Aunt thing. Didn't interest me at all.

As for Andy, well, he brought it on himself by being away so long, but he will never see it that way.

Maybe motherhood has softened Angela, but I wasn't buying the nice Angela that wants to take care of the Aunt thing. That was so out of character. I kept thinking who is this and what have they done with the real Angela?

Perhaps, but his actions this season are totally incongruous with the Andy of last year who drove down to Florida to get Erin.
It's a major reason as to why I have a problem buying this storyline.

IMHO, the writers are slightly modifying some of the characters in order to wrap up their storylines for the Series Finale.

Was this the back door pilot for Dwight's spin off that got squashed? They said they would air the footage at some point. Seems like they were setting up characters for that.

Yes. I have a problem with it because of how he was last season, but just meant that he shouldn't be so pouty and surprised and all. I would have been happy if they had kept him in florida this season.
