Phillips DVR Help

I have a Phillips DVR dsr704. I recently bought a new HD and replaced it because it was freezing, then it finally would not reboot. That was a week ago and now it is doing the same thing. The welcome powering up screen comes up and just sits there, or it will then go to the next screen that says just a few minutes more. I can hear the HD running when it is trying to boot up. It will never get past these screens. If anyone has any suggestions about what the problem could be I would be very thankful.

What software version is now on that unit?
How were your signal strengths before this started up?
What's the system temperature? If possible!

Since you just put in a new drive, you could have a bad out of the box drive... or a bad power supply

I upgraded my TiVo years ago with a pair of drives and one of them died within 7 days.

Did you use the same image, because it might be a bad one which happened to me once. Try a different one.

I have the same Phillips DVR TIVO, ho can I add a second hard drive tot he system

A few months ago I bought larger TIVO hard drive that supposedly would work but when installed it just kept looping to the powering up screen and then a software screen showing the guys name that programmed it but it wouldnt go past that

I was told by the author of the software that it wouldnt work without the DVR ser# and reciever ID being included in the programming, which this wasnt

so, how can I add a second hard drive or replace the one I have with a larger HD?

thanks
