The Big Bang Theory S06E02 "The Decoupling Fluctuation"

Enjoyed the human moment with Sheldon "please don't hurt my friend". It seems they are least letting him grow and have empathy.

Mayim's blocking of the hand was done horribly it was so noticeable because they made it seem like she had a lame arm or amputated one. Of all of them the worst was when she was on the couch with Bernadette and had her hand in the pillows (not Bernadette's "pillows").

Completly forgot to look for her hand.

Having said that, not looking for it, I didn't notice anything and it was fine for me as a viewer.

She's gonna need that hand with Sheldon as her boyfriend.

Unfortunately, I read this thread before I watched it. All I could look at was her non-hand.

(As an aside, I saw her on the Emmys red carpet. It's still in a splint. Get used to not seeing it. I almost kind of wish they'd written it in somehow.)

(Also, man alive, she's a worker. No matter what I think of her personally, I have to hand it to her, she's seriously dedicated to her work.)

The "space" anti-gravity scenes this ep were much more hokey than the first episode. Last episode they made an attempt to have things and the people "floating" around. This episode, it was clear the only thing moving around was the camera.

I dunno. I thought they were fine. Really, I don't expect a Speilberg movie from a sitcom.

This is me.
I think the entire spectrum of space station effects has been very well done for a sitcom.
At least for the average viewer who isn't looking to nitpick the geekier aspects of the show

I didn't notice AFF's hand, I have no idea if there's a laugh track or not, and I thought the portrayal of weightlessness was fine. Maybe I'm in the wrong forum.

I just hope they don't have another train ride episode.

There is nothing wrong with AFF's hand.

The actress, however, has a little boo-boo.

Let me join with mwhip.

My eyes opened wide and I smiled when I heard:

"Penny.... Please don't hurt my friend."

An evolving Sheldon. Huh. Actually fits right into the name of the show, if you think about it. The group was simply going along, doing the same things over and over until "Boom," the Big Bang.

Penny moved in across the hall.

Some changes began immediately. Other changes took longer. And still more changes upon changes are happening. Even Dr. Homeostasis is not immune and is adapting, however reluctantly, to this new environment.

When you look at the show in this framework, you can see reasons for the additions of Bernadette and AFF. Sheldon and his routine bound geek coterie are now interacting with Penny. And Penny is introducing others to this growing group, and each new encounter chips away at Sheldon's once immutable rules and routines.

I did not really think of the group as a symbol for the Big Bang Theory itself until I heard Sheldon plead softly to Penny to be kind to Leonard.

With that flash of concern for his friend, we can see just how far Sheldon has evolved.

Which is to say, IMO, not very far at all....

Yes, this is a step...but a very small one...

With that one line Sheldon revealed the depth of his caring for Leonard and his understanding of the dynamic within Leonard and Penny's relationship, perhaps understanding it even more than they do.
I think it is huge- he's looking outside the parameters of his very focused life and understanding a social relationship. That's not something Sheldon does every day.

The writers have said repeatedly that Sheldon is neither autistic nor has Aspergers Syndrome. The only way they describe his affect is "Sheldony".

I might be crazy, but didn't Sheldon have a similar "human" request the last time they were going to break up? I don't think this is the first shred of humanity we've ever seen from Sheldor.
