Modern Family "Bringing Up Baby" 9/26/2012

I had to pause it when Mitch was rocking the van and making the gorilla hump the elephant.

And Claire kept saying how Gloria was going to get fat.

I liked how they jumped forward in time several months at the end. Now the whole season won't be just about the pregnancy. Good episode!!

Best line of the episode - when that slipped out as her immediate reaction.

I agree. The part about the beard at the end was funny too.

Jumping ahead was a great plot device. I enjoyed the Cam/Mitchell story for a change - especially when they wanted to adopt a cat and were faced with all that paperwork and finally faced their sadness at losing their son.

Phil in a beard looks great!

I loved Claire making the Hangover drink, guaranteed to make Haley vomit. I remember my mom making something similar for my brother after his first drinking bout and hangover (though I am sure this is not Haley's first).

For me, one of the funniest lines was "I got to meet the new trig teacher!" I was just thinking about my trig teacher the other day-he was a cool guy!

"That wasn't a hangover cure, was it?"
"No..."

"We were in London for two weeks-cool it with the accent, Madonna..."

Good to see the show back.

We had to laugh at the cat adoption scenes. My mom just went through the vame thing this last month trying to adopt a pair of cats. She was the Cam character during her ordeal.

I laughed at every scene where they showed the elephant and gorilla on the roof.

And Lily cracked me up with wanting to name everything 'Larry'.

I am warming up to New Lily. I got a kick out of that bit she did on the Emmys. "You're evil!" "You're NEXT!!"

Thank God. I'm still not looking forward to another baby story line though.

I think I have a little crush on Jay. I almost teared up at his reaction to the pregnancy announcement.

They built up to that scene so well with him being kidnapped by his "buddies" and trying to go fishing, ending with him realizing 65 isn't the end; for him, it's the beginning...

After the Thrift Store & Donation Center would not take the stuffed animals...

Cam: "What are we going to do now?"
Lilly: "Get a kitten and name it Larry"

I am starting to take a shine to Lilly 2.0.

While I was watching, I noticed a "mooz" right in the dialog of the show, but now I can't remember what it was. Anyone else notice?

I think it was Jay talking about one of Manny's roast jokes.

I caught it. I was expecting one of those social media pop-ups that said: @foferlanguagedevelopment "Mooz!"

I loved how they jumped forward at the end. The segue between last season and this season was executed wonderfully. It was genius. That episode will probably get them an emmy nomination, it was done so well.

At the beginning of the show, there's a logo that pops in that says "AD", along with a sound effect that covers up the dialog. Does anyone else find that utterly frustrating!? What is that for? I've seen it on other shows, and I imagine it's something with the digital HD format, but don't know exactl what it stands for.

Adam Carolla was complaining about that on his podcast from Tuesday of this week. He saw it on a rerun of Modern Family from a couple of weeks ago. It was the episode where Haley was trying to fill out a college application and was trying to answer the question about the hardest thing she'd had to overcome. She said, "Didn't a counselor once say that I had 'AD?'" and it popped up right at the same time. That drove Carolla crazy, because the graphic seemed to ruin the joke and he went around at all the Emmy after parties asking the show's creator and cast about it, and none of them had any idea what he was talking about.

Anyway, bottom line, it stands for "Audio Descriptions" and it's something new ABC is testing for the visually impaired. I assume is analogous to Closed Captioning for the hearing impaired.

I've seen it on several shows and it is extremely annoying. It is very loud and drowns out the dialog.

I consistently laugh the most at Phil fawning over Gloria. Kills me everytime.

Interesting. Perhaps it could describe the audio that it makes you miss.

I'd love to hear the description of the animals on top of the car.
