TiVo Remote Glo or Slide

I need a new TiVo remote. I had just the standard peanut remote. I always thought the glo feature was a good idea. Is the glo feature just as robust on the slide remote as the standard glo remote? Is there a reason not to get the slide other than the extra expense.

And the back story . . .

Four nights ago I was watching TV. I know I was using the TiVo remote. My wife asked me to check Facebook for any news about the daughter of a close friend who was in labor. (Was there a baby yet?)

(Thank you TiVo for letting us pause live TV. Remember when that was a novel idea? but I digress.)

I went upstairs to tell her no and went back down stairs to continue watching TV. No remote. In the span of probably less than 10 minutes the remote disappeared. I was very conscious of where I was during this time. We have searched high and low. No %@)#$%*)#$( Tivo Remote.

Fortunately I had the Droid app and a Logitech remote so we can watch TV. But after four days of no remote, I have decided to indulge and buy one of the glo remotes that I have been eyeing for a long time.

Check the couch cushions, the space between the back and seat cushions?

This is a personal preference. I prefer the slide to the glow, especially as I hate onscreen keyboards and I like not having to point right at the unit for keypresses.

How did you know I was on a couch? Have you been spying on us?

We did remove all the cushions, looked under the couch, in the crack between the arms and the base. But thank you for the suggestion.

The glow on the slide works great, you won't regret it.

I prefer the slide. Bluetooth means neither the TiVo, nor the remote need to be visible to each other. E.g., the TiVo can be out of sight. Or the slide can be blocked by a pillow or someone walking. And I find I actually use search now.

Also, I actually think the TiVo reacts faster to the Bluetooth than an infrared remote, but that may be bias on my part.

I too prefer the slide. Doing searches is no longer a chore. The added benefit of bluetooth connectivity means that I can operate the living room TiVo from the kitchen (where I have a 2nd TV connected to the TiVo unit via a long HDMI cable).
