Amazing Race cast announced

Looks like it's gonna be a wild one with the Fabulous Beekman Boys and a heavy metal rocker (former Megadeth member)...

I like the new twist where if you win the first leg, and then win the whole game, you double your money. Not that it is likely to happen.

I have no idea who these contestants are. Never heard of any of them.

Whoever the Beekman Boys are they look annoying. So I hope they go out first. lol

Beekman Boys are fabulous!

I'm looking forward to this one. I couldn't get into last season, for some reason, and then was kinda sorry I missed some of it...

Double amputee should be interesting.

Hmm, later era of Megadeth, so he wasn't playing with them way back when I saw them.

Interesting that the former Megadeth bass player is not teamed with another musician. Also interesting that he's not a wash out, but somewhat relevant in that he could probably get another job with a major band if he wanted to.

I think a more interesting twist would be to say that any team that finishes a leg in first place can either accept the prize for that leg, or give it up for the chance to double their winnings at the end. Then the winners of every leg would have to decide whether it's a good gamble to take the trip/cash/prize or to give it up. For one team, it would be an awesome move, but for all others, it would be stupid. So you'd get to see whether teams really believe they have a realistic shot at winning the whole thing.

When I first saw the "double-up" possibility, I was thinking it wasn't likely to make much of a difference because it's unlikely to happen, but I went and looked at the past seasons, and it's actually happened quite a lot, especially in the more recent races.

In the previous 20 races, 12 of the teams who won the first leg were still around for the final leg, and 6 of them won their races, including the last two races.

In 5 of the last 11 races, the team who won the first leg went on to win the entire race.

It will be interesting to see how this affects how the other teams treat that team, if at all.

Saw the promo during BB. They raised the prize to 2 million dollars! 'Bout time. Survivor should do the same.

Only if the same team wins the race that won the first leg.

That is a nice incentive to try to win the first leg.

A later era of Megadeth, and an odd one, too. He was the bass player in White Lion when they were popular.

Meh, stupid unnecessary gimmick. If they wanted to do it right, how about the team that wins THE MOST legs and wins the whole race gets 2 mil. That would give teams a bigger incentive to go for each leg than just trying to "stay in the race".

My friend told me his son will be on a future season of The Amazing race, he's been asked to set up and run one of the detours.

Don't they already get the fast pass, or are they getting rid of that?

I'm guessing this replaces the FastPass, since that hasn't provided much excitement or drama the last few seasons since it was introduced.
