Animal Practice Premiere - 8/12/12 - Spoilers

No thread about Animal Practice that premiered after the Olympic Closing Ceremonies last night? I'm not surprised really. I watched the commercial free premiere and it was 20 minutes of my life that I'll never be able to get back. It may have been commercial free cause no one wanted to be associated with it. Not one laugh or chuckle during the show. The creators must have thought that having animals on the show would be enough make it successful, but I thought it was just plain stupid. My advice is avoid this one at all costs. Anyone feel different?

I enjoyed their use of Rizzo. And Joanna Garcia makes a nice brunette.

And oddly for me, I liked the awkwardness of the groomer lady. It's odd because I'm not a fan of awkward comedy. But the way she reveled in the awkwardness really made it funny.

They should have left the name of this show as "The Monkey and the Hot Chick."

Are there really animal hospitals on the scale of people hospitals?

It is pretty easy to cure Ick. You don't have to take your fish to a vet.

Closest I'm aware of is a teaching hospital, like at the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, and even then it's not all that close.

I agree! I was going to post the only good thing about the show is Dorothy and the monkey.

I thought I would watch Joanna Garcia in anything.

I was wrong.

Wow if any show needed a laugh-track to tell me when to laugh, this was it. Or maybe it had a studio audience and they didn't laugh either. Thanks NBC cleared up some space on my fall network spreadsheet.

The tortoise race at the end was pretty awesome.

I haven't watched it yet except a small bit up to the monkey and the door bit. Monkey was a good animal actor. Odd, to premier this icky show in such a time slot.

I may give it a second episode because I have hated pilots before and then liked the show.

Both my Wife and I liked it, esp the little monkey. Did we watch the same show?

We brought our dog Sparky to Angell Medical Center in Boston for a neck/back injury. Very much like a normal hospital, with a 24hr ER, surgery suites, recovery rooms, research labs. State of the art veterinary services - pretty amazing actually. Gave Sparky several more good years.

Googling says there are 60 full time Vets on staff, and they treat 50,000 animals per year.

It wasn't terrible in my opinion (and my wife's). We think it could go either way. I have hated many pilots and liked the show. I will give it one or two more chances unless there are conflicts.

I watched the rest last night. It wasn't great, wasn't even very good.. but was actually way better than the preview or snapshot of "guy with a monkey" would lead you to believe.

Is Tyler Labine the new Ted McGinley (show killer)?

I find it hard to believe their are amublances for pets. I loved the monkey. I did not like the woman who seemed to have an opinion on everything. I also did not like the vet, I think his name is Yamamoto.

There are definitely pet ambulance services. Not as widespread as people ambulances, but they are out there.

Bobby Lee! I loved him on Mad TV, but not so much here.

The wife and I both liked the.monkey and it seemed to gradually get better as it went on. I certainly concur with the criticisms. The laugh track was terrible. We'll probably give it one more chance.

Yes.
A room full of people in suits actually thought this was a good idea?

I went in knowing I would not like it because I have worked in and around enough vet offices to know the real deal and TV shows about animals always tick me off. Not everything is a cutsey-pie joke and not everyone is a buffoon.
But this was beyond the pale as regards buffoonery.
We made it about halfway through.

A serious ER level show about a veterinary practice might grab me but this level of drivel is just SAD.

Everyone one in the room that approved this show should be fired. I even think if you walked past the screening room you should be fired.
