Joe Schmo returns!

O. M. G.

From Entertainment Weekly:

Quote:
Spike TV is reviving its classic faux reality series The Joe Schmo Show, where a group of actors fool a TV wannabe into thinking he’s on the most insane competition series ever. Returning after nine years off the air, Spike will launch a new edition in 2013 titled Joe Schmo: The Full Bounty.

In this version, the contestant believes he is on a new reality show looking for America’s next great bounty hunter. His castmates are collection of reality TV clichés — including Lorenzo Lamas, playing himself. The “Joe” will face bounty hunting-related challenges like learning how to defuse a “bomb” and interrogating a hostile witness, not knowing everybody else on the show is in on the joke.

Ralph Garman (Family Guy) is reprising his role as the show’s host.
Apparently it has already been filmed. Premieres first quarter 2013.

Holy cow. This is awesome.

Wonderful. Another show where the entire premise is to be an a#@hole to somebody so we can all laugh at him.

Not buying it - Garman is recognizable in any disguise.

Hmmm... Not sure if I like the Bounty Hunter angle.. But I'll give it a watch. Never saw the fist Joe Schmo show, but I know people here loved it.

WHAT.

I'm not sure I'd want anything to do with a non Wernick/Reese Joe Schmo.

I did watch one episode of the original. Stopped watching because of the premise.

I see no entertainment value in being a jerk to someone. (that includes Candid Camera/Punk'd type shows)

Ah, gotcha... sort of strange, unless the shows are mean-spirited. In the case of Candid Camera and The Joe Schmo Show, they weren't mean-spirited - people laugh at the end, and are happy they were a part of it.

Damn, this is the first time since I pulled the plug that I've felt I'm missing something. I need to check if Spike typically offers their stuff on Amazon or elsewhere.

I figured Garman would be playing himself, as the host.

I'll give it a go. I thought the first one was pretty good. Hopefully they can find someone who hasn't already seen the original and knows the premise.

I'll be watching. The thing about this show that made it great was the one actual contestant, Matt. He was so likeable that even though we knew it was fake you just could not help wanting to watch him handle things his way and succeed.

Awesome!

I was just thinking about this show the other day (someone posted here in a different thread about giving a pearl necklace as a bridesmaid gift).

So glad to hear it is coming back.

Hmmm. Since that show aired the first time, I've given up on "real" reality shows completely. Might still have to watch this one.

"Joe Schmo: The Full Bounty" is created and produced by Barry Poznick and John Stevens of Zoo Productions, an All3 media company. J. Holland Moore serves as Executive Producer.
So sounds like it's a different production company and different people behind it than the original.
