True Blood ""Everybody Wants to Rule the World"" 8/5/12

I wish we had some kind of insight into what Bill was really thinking.

Sookie should have had no problem zapping the crap out of the gang with her fairy light, not sure why it wasn't working just because she had her hands tied.

I am amused by "The Unit" reunion we've got going on

Last week she tried to drain her fairy powers so looks like three is not much left.

They need to change this show's title to Kill Bill. For some reason I kind of wanted the ifrit to burn down Marlott's.

I guess I'm just not into this season.

I guess we're moving into end game for this season. Ending minor storylines to set the stage to involve the characters in the major storylines. They wrapped up the shifter shooting / hate group storyline and the Terry storyline. The Jason/Hoyt/Jessica storyline is pretty much done. We basically have Sookie's parents' murder (which I think will be the storyline that survives this season to become the focus of next season) and the Authority/Russell/Bill & Erik/civil war storyline, which will culminate in the finale.

So, who is it that appoints sheriffs and kings? I thought it was the Authority. I wonder if Erik knows that he's no longer sheriff. Apparently Bill is still king, judging by the armed guards who escorted Jessica from the police station.

I can't believe we're 9 episodes into a 12 episode season. I'm still waiting for it to really get going.

I am very dissapointed with this season. Nine episodes of sillynes (e.g. Authority, Hoyt, Hate/love group). Now with 3 episodes left, lilith becomes the central focus.
I wish they would have save 3 episodes for we could really see the drama with Lilith/Bill/& Company.

Looking forward to next season. Hopefully, it will become better.

And that is the deal with the Preacher Vamp. He is nothing but comidic relief. I remember when this show was scary.

The highlight of the season is getting Layfatte back to his old ways. He is great.

There is still three episodes left?

I am sad that I am about that. I thought next week would be the finale.

There was a lot going on this season. Seemed really disconnected. And did we see what happened to the dragon lady? Luna beat the **** out of her but is she dead and hidden?

I liked Jason's contribution to the discussion on why they were wearing Obama masks.

"Maybe...they didn't want anybody to recognize them?"

Ah, Jason...don't ever change.

They showed her being escorted to the police car in handcuffs.

I think they've been somewhat clear on that point. He was having a genuine crisis of faith, if you will. Eric had managed to persuade him to his side of things, but then Bill had that second vision of Lilith, and now is gone full-on Sanguinista. He's a True Believer now.

There was a moment when Bill seemed to be on the verge of figuring out what was up with the Lilith blood (that it's fairy blood, as suggested here last week), but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

And yes, I think he's being very transparent and open about his feelings and motivations. Which is what is throwing Eric off.

why not shift into a lion to beat up all the guys? doesn't that make more sense than fighting 3 grown men as a man?

Kinda wondered about that myself. That seems to be an ongoing problem with shifters...they sometimes don't take forms that would be very obviously helpful in a given situation.

Maybe their instincts suck?

Maybe the show just doesn't have that kind of budget?

I was thinking that they may be limited in mass. So maybe they can't turn into a Rhino or an elephant when someone is shooting at them. But they can shift into a fly (hey, that's even better if someone is shooting at you), so mass is not really the issue.

I guess it's more fun to have a naked man fight the bad guys than get a trained lion or do it later in CGI...Personally, I like the naked girl better!

Sam turned into an enormous brahma bull to gore Mary Ann at the end of S2.

If the people have small caliber weapons, I think an elephant or a huge grizzly bear would be a good choice, since either of those can take a few small caliber bullets without being disabled.

One thing the show has not made clear is how body damage changes with a shift. If an elephant is shot with a small caliber bullet, it would not have a huge effect. But if that elephant shifts into a fly, does the bullet hole (and the bullet) shrink proportionally? Because if not, a little bullet hole would be bigger than the fly's whole body.

I think it would be better if shifting healed wounds. If the body can be completely reconfigured, then it makes sense that any wounds should just disappear after a shift.

Big Grin

Sam was in violation of guy code #23"

Rule #23. Unless you're in prison, never fight naked. This includes men who aren't wearing shirts. If your buddy is outnumbered outmanned, or too drunk to defend himself, you must jump into the fight. Exception: if during the past 24 hours your friends actions have caused you to think "what this guy needs is a good ass wuppin", in which case you may refrain from getting involved and stand back and enjoy.

Fighting naked is a brilliant stratagem. It has a good chance of preventing your opponent from grappling with you.

But if he DOES grapple, then he has a clear shot at some very delicate "handles".

Didn't he need a little help with the transformation as in being able to see (or picture or from a past shift) the animal in question???

There have been plenty of times when he has shifted pretty freely. As far as I can tell, they've made no distinction between those times, and the times when his life really depended on his shifting into something else, ANYTHING else, but it doesn't seem to have occurred to him to do it.

I'm afraid in this case my leading theory is sloppy writing.

For some reason I thought he had to at least touch whatever he wanted to shift into at least once, but after that he can change into it whenever. I'm thinking about the time he met the other girl shifter in s2 and she always turned into a deer. Maybe that's where they talked about it or maybe it's from some other show, movie or comic book.

Regardless of the mechanism, there are plenty of options just from things he's been in the past that would be better in a fight than Naked Human.

For that matter, if I were him one of the first things I'd do is "at least touch" or whatever the biggest, strongest person I've ever met, so I'd have that in my repertoire in the future.

And a grizzly bear. Can't go wrong with a grizzly bear.

(Did he ever touch, see, or otherwise prepare to transform into a white bull?)

I just watched this episode last night and I was left feeling disappointed and starting to feel uninterested.

I will finish out the season, but they need to set this ship right. This lilith story line is getting very old.

The only story line I am continuing to like, a little, is the one with Tara. Pam is turning into an "interesting" maker.

Sookie loosing her power has turned into a let-down for me.

Although I admit, I like the Sam's story line has filled in. I like that we have learned a lot more about his abilities and he's got a steady woman, that seems right for him.

Jessica is another let-down. I can't put my finger on it. But, they need to do something more with her. She's like a lost puppy and it's starting to get annoying.

If you have to kill a family member, I think Sam qualifies. Didn't he kill his brother last season? Or were he and his brother not blood related (and does that matter)?

oh, I don't remember if he killed him or not. But, yes, he would be able to shift into humans if he killed him (and they never hinted to them not being brothers).

We know Sam was adopted by the Merlotts. IIRC, he went and found his biological shifter family whom he had never met.

Was his brother adopted from the same family?

EDIT: The brother was able to skinwalk based on killing the father.

you got it. He found his biological parents and found out that they had a son that they kept. I just don't remember how his brother died. I remember he threw him in the swamp.

I think his brother died from skin walking too much. It was hurting him and eventually killed him.
