Partners: Season One Thread *spoilers*

I'll keep starting season threads so we have a place to chat...

Not impressed. In fact, given how much I like David Krumholtz and Michael Urie, I was disappointed. Two very good actors, capable of so much when supported by great writing, and I was mostly *meh*. And the showrunners have impressive pedigrees too. Still *meh*.

Given the rocky history of so many sitcom pilots, I'll give it another week. But if it doesn't do a quick turnaround, this will be one of the first cancellations of the season. In fact, I fear with the rapid reactions of the networks these days, it may be doomed out of the gate.

Your *meh* is sadly far higher praise than I gave this. Most shows I'll at least give a second airing to, this one I've just got zero interest in even trying.

My 1st and 2nd cancellations came weeks ago. I wasn't very impressed, but gotta admit I did lol a couple of times, couldn't say that about Go On, or Animal Practice, but that's a different thread.

Might be a goner just because Monday's are crowded but until then it stays.

I like Krumholtz and Urie, and Routh is easy on the eyes if nothing else. But couldn't stand the pilot. Literally got angrier the longer it was on. I'll watch ep 2, but if it's not dramatically better the SP dies.

Yeah, this was pretty bad. I usually give most sitcoms 2 or 3 episodes before I decide whether to keep watching, but I don't see any promise in this show whatsoever.

I didn't know about it until I happened to be on TV Guide site and there was a review of it and some other shows and it was conveniently about a minute before the show started. I hate sitcoms but I had to check it out since the premise is something I live every day (aside from the "being engaged to Sophia Bush" part.... sadly that was not taken from my reality.

But the whole "two childhood best friends, one straight, one gay" was, so I was curious enough to check it out. I only watched half of it and got a phone call and never went back, but some initial thoughts... the gay guy is too stereotypical. I guess TV characters have to be "hyper-realistic" but it's kind of played out. The meddling in the other guy's personal life and having a big mouth are absolutely spot-on..the timing of this show was actually funny because I'm currently annoyed with my friend because has has boundaries and no respect for people's privacy... and he makes s*** up like a gossiping housewife.

These are things you don't normally have to deal with, lol, so it could be good if they focused on stuff like that sometimes--there's a good amount of comedy potential if they dig for it instead of just doing the most obvious, cookie-cutter stuff.

Hopefully when this gets cancelled (next week), Sophia Bush books a guest stint on Sons of Anarchy.

This is my vote for the first cancellation of the season, or at least CBS's first cancellation.

Porn Star or Cro-Eater, either way works for the guest stint.

Boring. Only recognized the guy from Numbers. At least now I can still have padding on the 8pm and 9pm shows! (Though CBS _seems_ to have done well last year, and I think the padding wasn't actually necessary.)

When I give a show a shot, it is VERY rare that I don't actually watch the entire show.

This one got to the yoga scene (or first yoga scene, as I don't know if there was more than one) and I couldn't take any more. I bailed and started watching NCIS. Didn't delete this show in case I wanted to go back and try to finish. I didn't. Episode and season pass deleted.

I did not like this show. David Krumholtz was the only partially likable character for me.

I will give it one more episode since they often retool after the pilot. If it hasn't improved, I am out.

that's funny - i kinda half like the show but i thought David Krumholtz was terrible. annoying. obnoxious. as in the show would be better if he were not in it.

Reminded me a lot of Will & Grace. Even Karen's character replicated with the secretary, and the gay character rubbing his face in her boobs. And the Grace character is a jewelry designer instead of an interior designer.

One or two amusing lines, but I feel I've already seen this show with better actors.

I wish it reminded me of Will & Grace. I liked Will & Grace.

I hope David Krumholtz didn't quit his part time job on The Newsroom.

I laughed a couple of times but this one's a goner.

Heh. Quoting myself because I realized after I got home, I hadn't actually watched the whole thing. I *think* I got bored and started watching something else, or else it was the last thing I watched before I went to bed (but I don't think so)… before putting CNN on as background noise.

I like David a lot and I enjoyed this enough. I'll keep watching 'till it gets cancelled.

It's on my dump list too. It seems that every show has a gay slant of one kind or another which I don't mind as long as the shows are good, Modern Family comes to mind, but most of them, are not.

I thought the gay guy got an extremely bad rap, though, for talking to the girl in yoga class. How was he supposed to know that Krumholz changed his mind completely?

And at least the guy got to wear unbelievable clothes on Ugly Betty. Here, nothing.

I thought this was a much better episode. Still not A material, but I enjoyed most of it. It earned one more week.

Nonetheless, hard to imagine this one surviving...

Did any of you see the interview with the show creators on CBS Sunday Morning?

I haven't watched the pilot yet, but I'm wondering how much the resonance between the show creators and their fictional counterparts will color the way I see the show.
