Not a whole lot of broadcast TV representation in the Drama areas, only The Good Wife and Harry's Law seem included.

Honestly though, Don't care too much about the Emmys. I'm not going to watch or not watch something based on this. I wonder, in this day and age with so many choices if any of these shows get any kind of a ratings bump because they won an Emmy.

Happy for most but would have been happier if Laura Linney stayed in the running, The Walking Dead got some acting nominations, Game of Thrones got MORE acting noms and

...Katey Segal was not snubbed again.

Has best reality host been a category before? If not, they must have created it just so they could give it to Betty White.

Yes it has for several years.
Press are reporting the big snub is Jeff Probst not being included.
Apparently he has been nominated every year.

I don't know about ridiculous. Looking at the Best Drama, who would you bump for Justified? That is a great lineup! Dinklage submits himself, so you can't blame Emmy for that. Walking Dead? Please.

I was impressed with some good Noms. Jared Harris for Mad Men? Nice job. Homeland getting Noms. Good. If there is any missing person it's Mandy Patinkin for Homeland in Supporting. That is about the only thing that seems crazy.

Parenthood got a nomination! Yay! Just for guest actor, but still.

Is it really that good? I might give it a try.

Meanwhile, I usually hate the Emmys, but I'll probably give it a look this year.

I've only watched maybe 1-2 of any of the shows listed. (meaning on a regular weekly basis)

Back in the day I had pretty much been watching 100% of the shows nominated.

I agree. Me pointing out that she wasn't nominated and calling her by her derisive nickname was my way of saying she is an awful host.

Not just nominated; he's won all four years of this award's existence.

If the entire Modern Family cast can be supporting actors, then I see no problem with Dinklage being supporting actor. He certainly has way less screen time than any of the Modern Family actors.

It's interesting that American Horror Story went into the miniseries category. Smart move I guess!

Guest actor in a Drama is stacked with good choices! Wow!

Aside from the annual inclusion of BBT in the noms, I feel like these are some of the more accurate/fair nominations I've seen...

Dinklage got supporting actor because that's what he was submitted for, so that's not really a snub. Ensemble shows like that pretty much everyone is considered "supporting".

Noble not getting nominated has been a crime every year and continues to be so.

The one I find odd is American Horror Story in the "movie or mini series" category. It got a 12 episode season, just like most cable shows, and was renewed for a second season, so it's not really a miniseries. I can see why the network submitted it there (probably didn't want to go up against the Breaking Bad / Mad Men juggernauts), and I guess they could justify it as the season was a self contained story, but... still seems odd. I wonder what the actual rules are for mini series versus series.

YEah, the rules are weird. American Horror Story was allowed in the miniseries, but HBO tried to get Luck considered there but was told no.

How did Girls get outstanding comedy?

I watched the first three episodes and didn't crack a smile ONCE.

Personal taste? Comedy is subjective?

I don't care for Modern Family but it has won two years in a row, right?

Betty White is nominated because it's a pity nomination. She's old. There's nothing she does on that show that my own grandma can't do.

Jeff Probst, however, truly deserves to be nominated. It takes a lot more than reading a teleprompter or memorizing lines to conduct tribal council meetings.

I guess so. My friends say I need to give it another chance because it gets way better after the third episode.

From the first three episodes, they lost me. Too many characters introduced at one time; their clothing and shoes are ugly, and the boyfriends are chumps.

Straight from the 2012 Emmy Rules:

"Miniseries: A miniseries is based on a single theme or story line, which is resolved within the piece. In a single awards year all of the parts must be presented under the same title and have continuity of production supervision.

A limited-run series with a "created by" credit CANNOT enter as a miniseries unless the producer for the limited run series applies for and receives entitlement to dual qualification, i.e. qualification in more than one category, because of an affirmative determination by the Awards Committee that the limited run series has elements of both drama series and miniseries categories."

Way too many nominations for Modern Family. That show has slipped dramatically from its first season.

No Ron Swanson! Travesty! No one from Community *at all*? Travesty! (Though it did get a writing nod)

Best Drama is probably the toughest categor ever. I watch 4 of the 6 shows (MM, BB, GoT and Homeland) and I'd be fine with any of them winning.

The only shoo-in, to me, should be Claire Danes for Best Actress. She was ah-mazing.

Thanks. AHS definitely fits that category. I'm guessing Luck doesn't qualify because the story wasn't "resolved", it was cancelled. Even if it wasn't it would've been an ongoing storyline, not wrapped up in the first season.
