Premiere Freezing When Internet Connected

We have a Tivo Premiere that we have owned for about a year and a half, and for the past couple months have been having problems when connected to the internet. Whenever the tivo is connected to the internet, it freezes, sometimes for several minutes, and then restarts. We usually use a wireless adapter but have also hard wired it with the same results. Haven't investigated the problem too much since we do not use Netflix or other internet apps, but of course need the connection to download info. Tonight it seems to be stuck on downloading data which it has not done before, so I'm wondering if the problem has gotten worse. We are only using an antenna for our programming. Any ideas, or is it just broke? Thanks!

If you don't see any problems when the internet is not connected (say, no restarts over a 24-hour period), then it's probably not the hard drive. Power supplies can always cause weird problems but not real likely on a newer Premeire. Since you get the same problem when using the ethernet port or the USB port (that's what you meant by "wireless adapter", right?), I wouldn't think it would be circuitry itself. Could be, but less likely. You might try connecting the internet and re-running the network setup to specify a fixed IP address for the Tivo if you currently have it set up for DHCP. If you still have the problem, you might try taking the Tivo to a friends house and hook up to their internet.
