British TV Show:Primeval

This has been discussed here..but I just found it on casttv.com

I like the show, thought I would pass it along just in case you need something to watch.

Cross between the SG-1 and Special Unit.

I have liked it very much.
Spoiler:
It's too bad the series finale is on BBC America this Saturday. I was pretty mad at them when they killed of the main character (Cutter), and then the next week, another one (Claudia?) left the show. It changed the dynamic of the show so much, I never recovered the interest I had in it before the two departures.

For light enterntainment it was good. Listen close and there's at least one "Wilhem Scream" each week.

This really isn't a spoiler but be warned in case you read

Spoiler:
the series ends on a cliffhanger, so basically the show is going out unfinished. I really hope a special or something is made to wrap it up

I really liked the show, it benefited, for me, from being watched S1-S3 over the course of a few weeks.

Spoiler:
I thought the show really went off the rails this season. Cutter being the leader made sense. The post-Cutter team leaders made none. One had no field experience. The other became the leader after about a week on the job. I'll watch this weekend's finale but I won't miss this show much at all. It was an interesting concept though. Just poor execution. YMMV.

Wasn't someone planning to make a movie based on the series?

ETA: Looks like Warner Brothers has an option on it if they want to:

Will SyFy be showing Season 2, or has Primeval entirely jumped ship to BBCA?

Didn't jump ship -- its first U.S. airing was on BBCA. Both channels run Doctor Who as well.

SyFy has already aired season, or as the Brits say, "series" two.

They found it had such an audience, they aired the final two episodes at midnight over the last two weeks, having given its regular timeslot to reruns of Warehouse 13.

Am I wrong to suspect they may not be interested in airing series 3 and 4?

And I actually went and started burning these to DVD...

There's no Series 4. BBCA just aired the season three finale, which turns out to be the series (in the U.S. sense) finale, because it hasn't been renewed in the UK. (Good ratings, but too expensive to produce, apparently.)

I don't know what Syfy's deal is (they did even worse to Charlie Jade), but it probably didn't help that it aired already on BBCA last year.

They just finished series 2? When did they show series 1?

What are they spending the money on? It isn't going into top-notch effects and quality sound.

The creatures looked real enough, so I'd say that's where the money went, not to mention making use of a stretch of motorway, and throwing around and crushing cars for one episode, didn't come cheap.

The creatures looked so real that tivogurl didn't realize they were effects.

Yes, that's where the money went, into animation, as I understand it.

Dang it! I just watched Series 3 and hoped they would have a Series 4 - a serious cliff hanger at the end....

Fans of time travel and ravenous prehistoric creatures, rejoice: BBC America announced on Tuesday that “Primeval,” the popular but expensive British science-fiction television series that was canceled this summer after the end of its third season, has been saved from extinction >

The article says there will be... 13 new episodes, scheduled for release in 2011. This is going to be a long time getting here. The arrangement seems to have involved a lot of financial groups.

I started watching this on Netflix Streaming. I really enjoyed S1 and I'll be watching the season finale of season 2 tonight. I really haven't enjoyed S2.

For one thing there's so much more angst in S2. Cutter vs. Stephen, Cutter vs. Jenny/not-Claudia, Abby vs. Connor (kinda), Cutter vs. Helen...it goes on and on.

And I can't tell if Cutter was the only person affected by the change from S1 to S2. Shouldn't Helen remember things how they were also? But she seems totally unphased. And if she was changed also did her and Stephen only have an affair in the altered timeline?

And what the hell is up with the sudden need to blow up the Arc? Things seemed to spiral out very quickly.

Maybe I'll understand it better when I watch the finale.

I have collected the end of Series 2, and the first 2/3 of Series 3 on my TiVo. BBCA is airing the last 3 eps of Season 3 on Oct 13. I hope they start over from the beginning so I can get Series 1, and the first 3 eps of Series 2

I've caught an odd episode here and there, but really need to see the story in order for it to make sense.

No spoiler but keep in mind it was canceled AFTER they filmed the final episode so it ends on a nasty cliffhanger.

It is coming back next year but I can't see it keeping it's momentum.

Damn, I deleted the last season because I heard it was cancelled and didn't want to bother. Maybe I'll be able to catch a rerun of it before the new season next year.

There's also a button for it in the Quote or Post Reply box (although not in the Quick Reply box). I can never remember which of the title and video code goes where, but it's pretty easy to switch if/when I get it wrong!

What's amazing this season around is that it debuts both in the UK and on BBC America on the same day:

http://www.tv.com/primeval-season-4-...ws/219069.html

I can't recall any UK show having done that lately, or ever.

Unfortunately, I'm too cheap to spring for our cableco's high priced package to get BBCA...
