Celebrity Apprentice 5/6/2012
No thread for this one yet? I guess the episode played out pretty much as expected. Of course now that it's down to the end, Trump brings in last year's finalists to "help him decide". Not that he's already decided who the final 2 are or anything And did Farouk have a Napoleon complex, or what? Could those boots have been any louder?

I have to admit I was shocked Lisa was fired.
My family all had different ideas for the final 2 but we all had Lisa as one of them.
Arsenio needs to go.
Aubrey vs Clay once again. I want Aubrey to win but got a feeling Trump will pick Clay.

I'm not so sure Trump will pick Clay. He does like nasty women (Rivers).

I had to rewind and rewatch the part where Lisa got fired!!
If it were based on merit, I think it would be Aubrey vs. Clay. However, this is about ratings/entertainment/spectacle/etc., so I think Trump will not be able to pass up the Arsenio/Aubrey steel cage deathmatch. He'll fire Clay for "playing it safe" or some other nonsense like that.

Wow, that's awesome Lisa was finally fired for her volatility. Of course, she'll be back on a team next week, so we're not rid of her yet.

We can only hope she'll be on the same team as Dayana.

It will be interesting to watch whomever is the final 2 pick their teams. I think Dayana will go toward the bottom of the list.

From EW.com's recap:
This led Aubrey to brag about all the amazing people she had worked with, like “Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama, Fidel Castro…” [Insert record scratching noise here.] Say whaaaaaaa? Fidel Castro? Exactly what kind of charitable endeavors was she talking part in with Fidel Freakin’ Castro? Well, at least we do know she considers him “a brilliant man.” Hitler too.

I too was shocked to see Lisa fired. I understand the hate of her volatility, but I've always been in the "She's telling it like it is, and Dayana WAS always useless" camp. I would have enjoyed a Lisa/Aubrey final.
Regarding the ads, I disliked both teams' efforts. I liked Lisa and Clay's concept much better, but they totally botched the execution. It was quite surprising that the advertorial won it, because it doesn't fit Elle's style in the least.
I was expecting to see Lisa and Clay take the "Not just a pretty face" concept and style it more like Aubrey's...maybe have three pages of models with hair dryers, each with a one-liner of something surprising about themselves, then the fourth featuring a group shot and more detailed info about the hair dryer. Aubrey's was too simplistic and Lisa's was too copy dense, IMO.

It seems that Teresa didn't know the first thing about photography, but I'm not sure Arsenio knew more than the one thing. I'm with Teresa, I'm sure the professional photographers could have figured how to light the scene.
I'm not liking Arsenio when I see him frustrated. I do really like Clay, now that I've watched the series.
I had no idea who the cowboy dude from last year was. The should call this show C-lebrity Apprentice. As in C-list.

Didn't like that the cowboy dude kept coming back to the money raised as his criteria. It's like he was trying to pimp himself. There were only 2 money raising projects, weren't there? Wasn't too many opportunities to raise cash.

Normally they have two big money-raising tasks per season, but wasn't there only one this year (was it a sandwich task?)? Definitely seemed that way, anyway. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Should be Lisa vs Aubrey. Not a big fan of the interview then kick part of Apprentice season..never have been..rather have a individual task for the four remaining and then boot the two worst.

THat's exactly what it seemed like to me. I didn't watch his season so my opinion may be way off base but he sure was annoying. Almost trying to act tough.

If I remember right, Marlee and John Rich both raised huge money last season. And also if I remember right, the final task is also a money raising task, so his focus on the ability to raise money is not so misguided.

Yes it is misguided, the final 4 haven't had the chance to raise all their possible funds. You can't compare totals when the final play hasn't been made yet.

My favorite part of the episode was when Aubrey listed everything she did (which is everything) then says, if we lose Teresa should be fired. lol

That season, including the regular task payouts, raised a total of $3,045,860. John Rich accounted for $1,261,908 of that.

I didn't like that John Rich was busting on Clay for only being PM twice in 13 tasks. Has anyone been PM more than twice this season? With 18 celebs to start, and 26 total PM slots, twice seems about right.
Was it Aubrey that was saying in the interview that she's got tons of money in her back pocket for a money raising challenge, and John Rich was asking why she hasn't already used it? Well duh! She hasn't needed to, and now she's got it available for the finale. Seems pretty obvious to me. Why blow your wad early in the game if you don't have to?
I get so sick of the bickering in the boardroom. If they'd show it for 8-10 minutes, it would be fine, but it goes on for 25-30 minutes, often on the exact same subject. It must be excruciating to sit through those things.
As for the actual task, I was glad to see Clay and Lisa win, but I wasn't that impressed with the style of their product. It shouldn't be surprising since Lisa shopped for the clothes, and she doesn't have any style in the way she dresses. The photos for Teresa's team were pretty awesome, but they just floundered by not having any info about the hair dryer in their ads. Clay and Lisa won by default, simply because they extolled the virtues of the new touch-screen technology, while Teresa's team seemed to totally forget that's what the task was about.
Finally, it is amazing how Aubrey is incapable of opening her mouth without talking about herself. Trump asks her who on her team should be fired, and she just went off on all the things she did. Based on what we've seen, I don't think there's any question that she's suffering from Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Lisa, Teresa, and Dayana were all PMs 3 times.

As I recall, the final task last year wasn't really a fundraising one. I believe John Rich brought in a big check, but that wasn't the goal of the task. So I get his argument that Aubrey should have brought in all her money already.

OK, but if only a couple people were PMs 3x, and most others were PMs 2x or 1x, then it doesn't really make sense to bust on Clay for being PM 2x. In fact, based on that info, none of the remaining three people served as PM more than twice. So I'd say that was a non factor and John Rich shouldn't have made an issue of it (and it certainly shouldn't have made it into the final edit).

This is the first season I've watched, and only did so because of Adam Carolla. My wife watches regularly, so I've seen bits and pieces of other seasons, but never paid much attention to the types of finale tasks before.

Not only that, but it's just one more expensive piece of tech that can break, causing the dryer to be junked, since replacing a chip or a screen will not be practical. I also wonder about the ability of the electronics to stand up to the constant high temps that the dryer will experience.

Maybe he asked the same thing to Aubrey and Arsenio? I mean, it is kind of funny Dayana and Teresa were PMs 3 times.

I don't think there's anything wrong with him asking the question. But I think he shouldn't have been beating Clay up about his answer. Maybe it took more than 2x to win on his season, but 2x was very normal for this season. And if he did ask that same question to the others, and we only saw him berating Clay for it, then that's poor editing.

I'd say that's good editing, because it's boring to watch the same question get asked over and over, especially if the responses are the same.
And I'm not sure you can say 2x is "normal." Let's look at the last half of the season. Of the final 6, 3 were PM twice, and 3 were PM thrice. I think it's a fair question to ask why the top 3 of the top 6 weren't PM as much as the bottom 3. John Rich was PM 3 time out of the first 11 tasks. Clay's only been PM 2 times out of the first 13 tasks.
