Veep S01E01

I really liked it. Good cast and I like the pacing. Julia Louie Dryfuss was excellent as always. I also am glad to see Tony Hale on tv again.

Just like "New Adventures", I think this show might take a few episodes to find its footing, but it has great potential to be funny. There was some great stuff in this episode, but also a few things didn't quite work for me--typical for a pilot really.

I'm definitely on board for this!

I was let down a bit, but I'll keep watching it while Mad Men builds up a buffer on my DVR.

Good show, lots of potential. Loved when she (the Veep) walked into the room of "50-60 senators", and there were about six people there.

Took me a minute to recall where I'd seen the guy who switched sides (from the lady senator to the Veep). He was the cancer doctor in The Big C.

I enjoyed it and I think it has real potential. I am very rarely impressed by pilot episodes and this was no exception but I will definitely watch again. It was weird to see Tony Hale be a "real" person as opposed to his Buster Bluth character. I did find the bit with the coffee machine funny. It was very much like watching Buster trying to do it.

I kinda hope they really do talk that way in the White House. Good stuff!!

I liked the show. I didn't love the show, but I'm definitely sticking around.

It seems in this show, the Veep's office is not located at the White House or West Wing or whatever. Is that true in real life too? I guess I would think the Vice President's office was at the White House too.

According to Whitehouse.gov

Quote:
The Vice President's Ceremonial Office
In addition to the Vice President's Office in the West Wing, the Vice President and his staff maintain a set of offices in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB), located next to the West Wing on the White House premises. This office, called the Vice President's Ceremonial Office, served as the Navy Secretary's Office when the EEOB housed the State, Navy and War Departments. Today, the Vice President uses the office for meetings and press interviews.
So it looks like the Veep does have an office in the West Wing, but an additional office in a nearby building.

All the VP's staff is in the OEOB (Old Exec. Office Bldg) also know as EEOB, for Eisenhower.

I got a tour of the OEOB a few years ago when a friend worked there. It was strange to see the VP's office just like any other office on the hallway.

Many things made me laugh.
1. When the secretary said "she's spinning" I expected to see a sweaty Veep on a stationary bike; so her spinning in her office chair was very funny.

2. "Is there anything you can't do?" "Foreplay, direct sunlight"

3. "How are your children?" "She is fine"

I do want to see this hat they referred to.

I thought it was a good start. I'll keep watching it if only to see how Tim Simons does. I went to school with him (K-12).

Loved this line. Sorta symbolic of the entire tone of the show.

Tony Hale doing the coffee was great too.

And you can see that "Did the president call? No." will be an ongoing thing.

We liked the show! It was pretty funny!

Seemed like they were trying to see just how much they could cuss. I bet that's what it's like at Joe Biden's office.

I couldn't believe how old Anna Chlumsky is now (32). She was 11 when I first heard of her (My Girl). She's very pretty now.

Obviously I'm in the minority, but I didn't like it at all. I didn't think it was funny, and most of all I found it really annoying. I couldn't even make it through the show.

I didn't like it either. In addition to not being funny, and not very realistic, I found the shaky camera thing bothersome. That is one trend that I wish would go away.

Anna Chlumsky is not credited as a cast member in IMDB section on Veep. Is she just a one time character?

No, according to the show's credits she's #2 in the cast.

IMDB is great, but far from perfect.

Finally someone mentions the Emperor has no clothes.

I agree 1000%. This show is awful.

It looks like the show thinks it's funnier/smarter than it actually is. I will give it a chance for 1-2 more episodes.

I found it a little awkward but I'm not counting it out yet. I really like JLD and Chlumsky, especially JLD. For that reason alone I will continue watching for now.
