TV Ratings (The LA Complex)

**Please no spoilers about The LA Complex. This thread is just to discuss the weird ratings situation**

The LA Complex has surely gone where no TV show has gone before.

First, they had the lowest rated broadcast drama debut of all time with only 646,000 viewers. (Ringer's ratings looks VERY good compared to that).

Then for some inexplicable reason, CW re-aired the episode and it managed to get MORE viewers than the original airing (721,000)

http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/04/26/l-...epeat-ratings/

I'm starting to feel like all bets are off in the TV ratings world these days.

It seems like everyday I am reading some article about how some show or network has broken a ratings record for all time low ratings (or demos). This industry needs an overhaul FAST. These people are stuck in the stone age with their ratings system.

I didn't even know about it til I tripped over mention of it on a web page.

Thing is, the WB is not grouped with the other channels I watch (ota only), and I only watch Nikita on that channel, never saw an ad for it during Nikita.

WB fail.

The best thing about your post is that it's the CW, not the WB, which hasn't existed for 5+ years.

whatever, you got the gist. The two blended.

I still call Candlestick Park by that, and not whoever owns the naming rights this week.

Still scored a 0.3 in 18-49 for both showings so it's not that much of a change.

However, it is a horrible rating even for the CW.
But then, this is also a very odd time to premier a new show as well.

So this is a Canadian show?
What's their (the CW) plan here?
Are they just doing this to fill their summer schedule early?

The only reason this show has pinged on my radar is because Jewel Staite is in it.

Otherwise, the advertisements make this show seem very forgettable so far.

No one has had the naming rights for a couple years, so "Candlestick Park" is currently correct.

Hey, I still make tht mistake occasionally. CW gotta remember, CW!

I saw quite a few ads for LA Complex, but I watched Ringer, which it replaced in the schedule.

Yup! That was my reason for watching the premier. Well, part of it anyway. After fifteen minutes, I just totally lost interest, even with Jewel.

I don't think it's that big of a surprise that a show on The CW got horrible ratings. Even their better-rated shows get horrible ratings when compared to the other broadcast networks, and this is in an era when the Big Four are all doing horrible themselves.

I've heard several TV critics wonder why The CW is even considered a "broadcast" network anymore, when it really should be treated more like a cable network, since its reach and target demographic is more narrow like most cable nets.
