You can use a wired adapter. One end plugs into a USB port on the back of the TiVo and the other end has a jack for an Ethernet cable, the other end of which would plug into your Netgear router.
Here's TiVo's list of compatible ones for the S2 single tuner models
I personally have successfully used the Netgear FA120 wired adapter with that model TiVo.
Or, you could use a wireless adapter that plugs into one of the USB ports on the back of the TiVo.
Here's TiVo's list
but if you choose to go that way, I recommend Tivo's own
wireless G adapter, which has its own little microprocessor built in that takes some of the workload off of the TiVo DVR's CPU.
Keep an eye on Craigslist and you might be able to pick one up for around $20.
You cannot use TiVo's wireless N adapter on that model TiVo, because the wireless N doesn't plug into a USB port, it plugs into an Ethernet port, and TiVo didn't add Ethernet ports to TiVos until the dual tuner Series 2 models.
Also note that some of the non-TiVo brand wireless adapters on that list are only wireless B (802.11b), which is slower than G.
I do not know if there are any wireless N adapters on the market that would plug into a USB port and work with that model TiVo, although I suspect not, because the TiVo won't have the necessary driver software for it onboard, and at any rate it would likely be so expensive you'd be better off buying a used TiVo that does have a built in Ethernet jack.
