Don't Trust the B in Apt 23 S1e1 Pilot OAD 4/11/12

I'm not sure this is going to work as a companion to Modern Family. It is very raunchy. I didn't like the masturbating neighbor.
I'll keep the SP for another episode at least.

Both #1 and #2 episodes are available free on Amazon (i.e. to view on your Tivo). I saw both, it's somewhat funny.

I didn't really like the blonde at the beginning but she grew on me. I liked the odd assortment of characters. I'll give it a shot.

I watched the first two episodes on iTunes. I thought the show was pretty funny. The second episode had me laugh out loud multiple times. I don't laugh out loud watching TV very often.

I have yet to watch it, but the blonde, June is played by Dreama Walker and she went to my high school and graduated a few years behind me. She was also on Gossip Girl and CW brought her in for an appearance during the last Super Bowl in town and a lot of us from HS were able to hang out with her again and she didn't change one bit. This was in 2009 right after she was in Gran Torino. Pretty cool when you are an up and coming star and still remember us "little people"

I watched the pilot on my xbox last week and I liked it. I didn't think it was as raunchy as the commercials were making it out to be.

And I like the stalker neighbor... oops neighbors.

Listening to the radio right now and they just talked about this show. They mentioned how surprised how good the show was. I felt the same way last night. I debated even watching the show because I thought it would be pretty awful. While watching it, I was really surprised how much I was enjoying it.

I don't like much in the way of TV sitcoms these days, but I liked this... reminded me a lot of the Better Off Ted style of humor.

I agree with the Better Of Ted reference in that there seemed to be a lot of random funny stuff going on that somehow ends up tying together.

I like it though there are slight resemblences to 2 Broke Girls in having such unlikely roommates. Though this one is far edgier with the one roommate being a con artist. I loved the scene in the mortgage company offices.

But does 2 Broke Girls have "The BEEK"?

I liked the show alot. Having James Van Derbeek play himself as an A-Hole is priceless.

I liked seeing the Beek from the Creek. It made me think of It's Like, You Know..which starred Jennifer Grey as herself.

I could see myself liking the show. I enjoy watching despicable characters. (but the creepy masturbating guy has got to go).

Hope the 'B' continues to have love/hate relationship with the blonde. If its 'oh now we're BFFs' it'd be too predictable and not as pleasing to watch.

This show was reportedly developed several years ago for Fox.

Heh, I was going to respond with the same reference. I think that show was underrated.

I have no clue why I enjoyed this but I did. I guess maybe I felt the silly "Better Off Ted" sort of vibe as well.

I had no idea that the guy playing the movie star was an actual TV star never having watched Dawson's Creek. That is pretty cool and the fact that people recognize him in the show makes it funnier.

I think that ABC couldn't have found a worse pairing for the two shows.

Nothing does well after Modern Family so might as well throw this at it.

Found it surprisingly good. Second episode especially.

What about Happy Endings and Cougar Town? Those were both good fits.

Not ratings wise. Modern Family is a poor lead in, nothing retains it's numbers afterwards. I think tonally Cougar Town and Happy Endings are obviously a better fit. Happy Endings is one of, if not my favorite show on tv right now.

Modern Family is an interesting show it has a big audience but hard to find a show to follow it. Happy Endings is too fast paced, Cougar Town is too "adult" and Apt 23 is too "adult" in another sense.

I think you could pair Apt 23 and Happy Endings pretty well together.

Wasn't The Middle paired with it previously? I'd think of would capture a similar audience.

I've seen a few episodes of Dawson's Creek from the first season only. But the scene with the whipped cream was from Varsity Blues. Good scene. Not sure if the movie was any good though.

I'm afraid the wife and I have to go the other way on this one. Didn't like it at all and couldn't understand why Beek was on it as himself in the first place. Just seemed totally out of place. SP deleted.
