Eureka - 7/2/2012 "Mirror/Mirror"

I am still going over some stuff in my head. One thing that stuck out...Allison was not a whiney bitch this episode, she was actually cool, calm and figured some things out.

I was half expecting her to turn and give Carter a look when he and Jo both said they cleared their morning schedules for damage control and now they had nothing to do so they went to get coffee together.

Obviously, the ghost in the machine is Senator Wen.

Or maybe that's what they want us to believe!

This episode was super creepy.

Still think the Allison whiny thing is an internet myth.

I've been waiting for Wen to show back up. They telegraphed it pretty well when Henry mentioned in the recovered video about her being their kind of people. No one had mentioned her for a while.

Flashy lights and Holly

The images on the screen and the visible light in her eyes, and the fixed stare at the screen made me think that Holly was having the Intersect loaded into her brain, or at least the GD equivalent. Something nefarious is afoot.

Two episodes to go, and it just doesn't seem like they are going toward any kind of series ender. just seems like then end of a normal story line. Did the writer not know this was going to be the last season?

No.

The season had been finished when the word came down. They gave them one extra episode. So we get that, at least.

Seriously, if you hate it that much, please stop watching. Or at the very least, stop posting about it. Your week-after-week complaints are getting to be very old and borderline thread crapping.

I get that people can have a different opinion, and I actually appreciate when someone posts a constructive criticism about what they don't like about an episode and why... but when the comments are simply complaints about not liking the show, that's frankly unnecessary and quite distracting for those who want to actually comment on the episode.

I've stated here that, up until the last couple episodes, I have actually found it not to be very bad. The last couple, however, were just nails in the coffin....but I'm sticking with it till it's over.

Funny I thought along the same lines, but I flashed back to Babylon 5 when Garibaldi was taken and reprogrammed by Psi Corp.

They used a similar method to communicate/affect him as Holly was.

In the early 90's Timex had a watch you programmed the same way:

Really they only need to finish this storyline. My take is that no matter how they end the series as long as the town of Eureka exists there is always going to be something weird happening and some new storyline that could come up, so as long as their isn't a cliffhanger ending I'll be satisfied. I would rather picture them as going happily along in Eureka than have something that splits them all up and feels like the end of Eureka.

I bet the last thing we see for the series finale is Jack and his daughter leaving Eureka.

I would have agreed, but for the new timeline.

Ditto on this. Always something happening in Eureka!

The sad ending......... Spoilerized since it may make some people unhappy. Completely made up in my mind.
Spoiler:
They end up in a new timeline.
  • Carter was never sheriff, nor has he ever been to Eureka because he and his daughter never drove through it (pilot episode). He's in a marriage to someone who isn't an intellectual snob, or alone still.
  • Allison is married to Stark, and Stark is still head of GD. They're living in Eureka with their daughter and her son.
  • Jack's daughter is doing hard time, as that seemed like her original path before coming to Eureka.
  • Jo is sheriff and with Taggart (I always found their relationship creepy, but what evas).
  • Fargo and Holly are together and happy in Eureka.
  • Zane is at GD, but more under house arrest, monitored by none other than Beverly, who reports to Senator Wen.
  • Henry is dead from the artifact, He died saving Kim from season 1.
  • Kim is with Parrish (Wesley Crusher).

Oh wait, that would be a horrible ending!!!!
Why did I kill Henry off? At the end of Season 1, four years in the future from that present Carter went back in time to save the world, but in the process wiped out that future. In that future he and Allison were happily married. Only Jack and Henry had memories of the now collapsed future timeline. Henry erased Carters memories (without Carter's permission), which seemed to be out of spite as Henry was angry that Carter had to sacrifice Kim to save the world. Ever since then I have never really trusted Henry and thought he couldn't be trusted, other than the fact everyone trusts him, and he and Jack are like best friends, even though he stole 4 years of happy memories from Jack.

I think she's been very whiny this season, and I'm not much of a nitpicker on this show.

I do love the show, but I'm OK with it ending now. This season hasn't been all that great IMO. I guess the idea has about run its course. It had a good run.

She has been pretty whiny this season but no so much in the others. Unless of course it is something that has to do with Kevin. Funny, thinking about it, I don't see her as that overprotective of Jenna. I do love the scenes with Carter and Jenna. He is a great dad!

Wow, so I'm whiny, a nitpicker, and not a real fan of the show.

Thanks for pointing that out! I never would have realized.

My feelings exactly. Over the show's entire run, I've enjoyed it. This season has just simply been uneven and has trailed off. It did have a good run. It's now time for it to end.

I pretty much feel this way too. I came to Eureka late but really have enjoyed the first 4 seasons. I had never seen a 'live' season before this one. It's been interesting to have to wait for the next week.

I would love for them to have a couple more seasons, but more with the style and flair towards season one rather than this season.
