System Battery

Is it possible for a dying or dead system battery to cause a Premiere to be in a never ending re-boot loop?

I've never heard of that. The most likely cause of a reboot loop is a dead hard drive.

If it's a regular 3V 3032, go buy a fresh pack of 2 or 4 and change it out to eliminate the possibility, and save the rest for computers, car key wireless remote fobs, etc.

I've seen at least one case where a PC had one of those batteries that tested good, but had been in service for a few years. Replaced it with a fresh one and cured the problem the motherboard was having.

Recently saw a post around here somewhere about someone fixing a TiVo by pulling the battery for a while and then putting in a new one.

Can I guarantee replacing the battery is needed or will fix things for you? Of course not. But it does eliminate a variable.

But be sure to test the new battery first, to make sure it didn't slip by QC.

Thank you for the advise.

Regarding a PC system battery, I can defiantly say that a bad battery will cause boot a problem.

The Premier is at a remote site. I'll be going there shortly with a new drive and a new battery in tow. Will let you know what happens.
