TiVo-BB Playbook-Android Tablet ??s

Hello All,

Is there anyway to load TiVo's android app onto a BlackBerry Playbook?

If not are there any android tablets that people would like to recommend, I have the following needs in a tablet:
  1. Lower cost
  2. need to be able to do video conferencing
  3. Works with TiVos app
7 inch is fine and we don't want anything but Wifi. My family would end up buying several of what ever, currently no one has a tablet or a smart phone.

Thanks,

Vizio Tablet.

The TiVo app can run the DVR, and the tablet's built-in IR emitter can run the volume and settings.

I believe it has a 7 inch screen.

?? The OP is talking about the Blackberry Playbook, not some Vizio tablet.

Yes, I can read, I was merely trying to offer some assistance and insight based on personal experience with an alternative tablet based on what the OP was stating his requirements are. Especially considering the Vizio OS is basically just a reskin of the Android OS and can access the Android App Market to get the TiVo app.

Oh, and after many years of reading the TiVo Community forums as a TiVo customer (I still have my retired Philips boxed up in the basement), I decided it would be fun to sign up and interact with some other TiVo fans.

I sure am glad that when I made my first post that someone was just waiting in the wings to shoot it down. Sheesh.

The Vizio tablet has an 8" screen and it can not run the Tivo app.

I'm running it on a Pandigital SuperNova which is 8". The buttons on the remote don't line up properly but they work.

And what does that have to do with it not running (supported) on the Vizio???

You said it can not run the Tivo app presumably due to the 8" screen since you specifically mentioned the display size? You did not mentioned supported/unsupported as a condition. I just wanted to let everyone know that it does work with another Android tablet with an 8" display with the exception of the button layout being off in the remote.

I only recently picked up this cheap tablet to play with Android and tablets in general and have found a limited number of applications available to it in the Market in part due to the display size and in part due to other limitations of the cheaper hardware so I was trying to pass on information to others who may have had a similar experience.

Yes this does mean manually installing the apk file and not downloading it from the Market which I did not mention. Sorry about that for anyone interested in trying it on a tablet with an 8" display.

I said that it has an 8" screen to correct you because you were wrong about it having a 7" screen.

Um you seem to be confusing posters? I never said the Vizio had a 7 inch screen. That was NotNowChief.

Oh, sorry here's the correction.
I said that it has an 8" screen to correct the person I quoted when I said it because he was wrong about it having a 7" screen. And because I quoted it and commented on it, I'd think it was more than obvious why I brought up the 8" screen.
